NUFC Transfer Rumours

He said Mbuemo was the main target tbf. Pretty sure there is a tweet on here showing a pretty long list of things he’s gotten wrong.

He was our 1st choice in our priority position which made him our main target. Unfortunately we weren’t his first choice (wages). Fee didn’t help either as due to competition and Brentford able to to extend his contract but didn’t mean he was our main target earlier in the window. So we moved on to our next 2nd choice (Elanga) who is now our main target.

It’s not a case of getting things wrong in journalism. They report what they find out. In a transfer window information is fast moving and conflicting and sometimes deliberately so. Things change. Like reporting the weather.

By that logic then, they can never be wrong, they can just say things have changed?

Trippier to float one to the back post for Richardson to head back across goal to the near post for Burn to head to the middle of the goal for Schar to head to the edge of the box for Tonali to smash one in off the bar.

Simple as that.

Congratulations, you are now our new set piece coach :aww:

Has anyone watched Scalvini in depth ?

I’ve just watched 5/6 you tube compilations and he reminds me of Dan Burn in terms of being an out and out defender (stop at all costs)

Huge defensive presence at 6f 4 and seems to (get in the way) of most attacks

Is he that highly rated ??  i know he is only 21 but not sure what all

the fuss is about?

What I will say is that if Eddie Howe wants him , I am all in

Maybe he could turn him into a worldie ??  ?

Those defender compilations always end up being 99% hero sliding tackles for some reason  Wish there was a channel that showed all the other aspects of players' games. Quite annoying when you're trying to get an idea about a player.

Also it’s worth noting that Scalvini is from same area of Lombardy Italy as Tonali. Both played for Brescia at a youth level (although not together obviously). Would likely help him settle in here.

Aye. There is no way Tonali isn't giving him a glowing recommendation to join. Even offered to book a table and buy him a meal at Michelin 3 star restaurant Wetherspoons if he signs.

You shouldn’t worry about Scalvini’s quality as a defender. It’s his injury record that’s the issue. Kinda like Woodgate the second coming

He’s young and could have many years ahead of him, but that’s a fair few injury’s .

Serie A players always have a tonne of those little injuries listed on transfermarkt. Way more than other leagues, think it's just a difference in reporting.

Obviously the concerning injuries are doing a cruciate, which he seemed to bounce back from incredibly quickly and was over a year ago now and doing a shoulder via an awkward fall which is hopefully just one of those things. Even happened to Jacob Murphy last year and he never gets injured.

Not to say they're not a worry, but I guess that's why we're sniffing around and not the real big boys.

Is a good comp. Looks pretty fast, very tall with long legs which means he can reach and get a foot in and nick the ball like big Jow does. Looks very comfortable on the ball too with some nice passes and even some dribbly skills.

To me has that instant look of classiness about him that top players tend to have. Would be well up for this signing if it happens.

Haven’t got time to watch it all but five minutes in he’s not gone off his feet once. There are few things in football more heartwarming to see than an elegant ball playing Italian defender.

It’s not even that bad tbh, reoccurring muscle or tendon injury’s are the thing to be worried about. Up to the cruciate it’s all pretty much nothing.

Scalvini was already starting for the national team before his injury, so clearly there’s talent there. But I’ve got some concerns. His injury history isn’t great, and he’s seemingly not exactly quick across the ground (sadly a theme for our current defenders). Also, let’s be real; Italian youngsters tend to get overhyped early, and recently, not many have actually lived up to it.

That said, I’d still be excited to see him come through. There’s a lot to work with, and if he can stay fit, he could develop into something serious imo.

That’s 10+ years of potential world class defender right there. Couple of years to bed into team as older options (who will start the season) are phased out whilst marinating the team culture. Get him top sports science support and building what he needs to prevent, where you can, serious injury. Assuming there aren’t signs of him being a perma-crock/having a shortened career (nothing to suggest that as far as I can see) and I think he would be ideal.
