I've seen people mentioning that we could do with more creativity in midfield.

How do they think pushing Bruno further up like he was initially playing, when Shelvey was sat deeper impacts that?

I ask because I think we really need a more athletic defensive minded holding midfielder. I don't like how open our midfield looks in transition at times with Bruno sitting deep.

I was following the Arsenal Vs Monaco game yesterday and Fofana the DM for Monaco looked great. He's a physical, athletic DM but his passing was quality too.

Think he's now in the last year of his contract as well. Can't believe no one has gone for him.

I've always thought the same thing re Bruno getting caught in transition with the way we press forward, I think this is where a lot of his fouls come from. But I wonder if Eddie is looking at all three midfielders defending according to their position on the pitch rather than have an out and out athletic defensive mid?

LB, back up RCB, and RW/AM and I think that'll do it.

Don't think we'll be getting an RW/AM though.

5 players was the noise coming out at season end

We have 2 - Tino and Sandro (Barnes <> Maxi)

Doubt we’re getting an lb and a back up centre back tbh. Reckon it’ll be one or the other in the 30-40m range.

Or if we sign a left back then Burn can become the back up centre back ?

Not the pacey one everyone's screaming about mind

We don't really need a LB with Targett and Burn both pretty capable, defensively at least, but the back up/successor to Schar is something we'll address first I reckon.

Only way we buy a new LB is if we sell Targett out of the blue.

"As I've said, it won't be a lot of numbers and a lot of big moves in. Hopefully it'll be the right two or three players to make us better."

The noise from Howe wasnt that at all in his pre match presser for Chelsea.

Think Howe said he wanted “a few more”, didn’t he? People weren’t sure whether that included Barnes or not.

I’d be surprised to see more than two arriving after Livramento.

If it was me, I’d be going after a LB and RW, but I can see why we’d prioritise a young right-sided centre-back.

My gut feeling with the RW/AM spot is that they're not going to go for anyone after missing out on Maddison and Szboszlai, unless there's another player at that level, in that same profile, within budget

One more player in and I'll be pretty happy with this window like. Barnes and Tonali might not be as spectacular looking as Diaby and Szboszlai, but I think they'll be more effective from a team POV.

My hunch is that we won't see any meaningful returns from Tonali for a while but I'd expect Barnes to hit the ground running, even if he doesn't start. Livramento has obviously been signed for depth and the same will apply to a new CB.

Gordon will be [deep breath] like a new signing, though. It'll feel like we basically just signed him a few months early; the real version will emerge now.

I'm thinking Gordon and Barnes will provide cover for rw. Otherwise it doesn't make much sense to buy the two during consecutive windows. We're fine in cm with Joelinton, Willock, Anderson, Tonali, Bruno, and Barnes/Gordon (they have played plenty of AM as has Miley). I think someone who can play rcb/rb is what we do next and that will be the end of the window for us. Versatility seems to be what Howe/Ashworth have in mind and we are approaching the point where we are legitimately two deep at every position.  Scoring is still a concern, and I was hoping for a left footed rw specialist like Diaby. Oh well, we only need to finish 7th to qualify for European football 23/24.
