NUFC Transfer Rumours

Optimistic Nut

Seems like it'll surely be a CB? Seems to be what most of the journos are saying.

After that I could see us adding a LB or RW... but only if a deal we really like comes available.

Think it might be a LB as we only really have Targett there as a specialist. Burn is covering and he is a LCB. We are covered in the other positions. We can certainly improve on Lascelles but that would leave us with 3 RCBs. Whoever comes in, if anyone does, I've got total confidence in whatever they do.

Tbf I think either a RCB or a LB would improve us significantly, so I’d be happy with either.

Caulkin seems adamant it’s a LB but Mope reckons it’s a RCB.

I reckon we’ll probably have the feelers out on a few players in each position and come the back end of next week we’ll assess our options. There’s no real urgency this week because any new signing would be unlikely to play v Man City anyway.

I would rather a centre back as cover for Schar, I think tripps and livramento, when up to speed, can cover both flanks

Eddie did say that he thinks RBs easily can move over to LB, but not the other way around for some reason.

Wonder if they will see this perfomance and think they don't need a Chiesa type in on loan after all?

Especially given how important Almiron is to the system - would a newbie affect the entire thing?

Add that name to the already strong bench :pedro:

From what Howe implied after the game this last transfer may well drag on until the last few days of the window, maybe there’s a reason for that? You’d imagine it’ll be extra defence cover.

I would suggest that all clubs like a little wriggle room to be able to do business end of the window as now the season has started injuries can happen and therefore depending on how serious change your whole approach and priorities.

Take Aston Villa for example. If they only had wriggle room to make a loan to buy like ourselves it seems (I know they don’t but you’ll see my point) then losing your main midfielder week leading up to your first game with an ACL and effectively putting him out for the season might of change their minds about getting another centre forward for argument sake but then Mings gets a bad injury first game and possibly another season ending ACL so that then might make them to go for another CH instead of midfielder. Loads of clubs will be seeing how the opening 3 or so games going to decide what they finally need which is when things will start to go wild in the transfer market you’d think.

So in short cant see us getting anyone until after the Liverpool game.
