NUFC Transfer Rumours

Recommended Posts

It feels kind of nice that there is an International break now, as this Window has been so relentless that it felt like there was never any break. There is now a 2 week period where everything should be quiet, and everyone can just breath, as really, who gives a shit about World Cup qualifiers

Yawn

Not really ‘Yawn’, whilst I admit they managed to get bodies in some of the activity was nothing short of embarrassing  this summer. Going to Isak’s house, what was that all about? Get the right people in this football club to deal with these situations, can’t stress that enough.

Fair play to Waugh. Hammered him on the Deal Sheet all summer, but that was a good read.

Tbf to him, I reckon he probably despises having to knock up that Deal Sheet shite every week during the window.

Nice wee deal between Romano and paddy power. Nothing to see here

Scamming people in plain sight.

As morally corrupt as this is, anyone who is betting on someone tweeting something specific, especially a slime ball like Romano who can be bought and sold and haven't considered the possibility of him working in cahoots with the bookie, deserves what inevitably comes to them.

Waugh confirming (if you believe him and his sources) that Trafford had the choice and that he chose Man City.

Think i may have misread.

Quote

Newcastle first bid for Trafford in June 2024 and he had expected to move to Tyneside. Consistent reports that the transfer was going to happen frustrated some inside Newcastle, who felt Burnley essentially paused negotiations whenever such claims were made.

That inertia allowed Manchester City to capitalise. When Newcastle finally agreed a £27m fee in late July, Manchester City were able to match it due to a buyback clause — and the goalkeeper chose his former club.

So basically every name that came out this summer was real in some way. Why do we have so many leaks?

Gonna bang this drum again, club need to hire a Chief Comms Officer / invest in better PR. I think it would go a long way in resolving (or mitigating) certain issues (like leaks) that are seen time and time again.

Also with the huge decisions coming up soon, they need to absolutely get the delivery of the comms right.

While this is fair, official comms officer won’t be able to control whatever is leaking to the press from within the transfer team.

True but might be able to put strategies in place to at least identify who is leaking.

Leaks are almost impossible to stop now , the majority of it will come from the agents side, then you have the likes of that freak Romano getting paid to leak stuff and push an agenda for certain clubs . The fact nobody had a clue about the Woltemade deal until it was basically done is a miracle really .

Generally have believed this, but this sounds like a problem beyond the scope of normal:

It added to a damaging sense among some dealing with Newcastle that things were more likely to leak from Tyneside, which people inside the club felt harmed their chances of doing business.

And then my read of this -- "Instead, during secret parallel negotiations while they made their bids to Wolves, Newcastle ramped up talks with Stuttgart for Woltemade." -- is that this was probably done on a very need to know basis. That's very similar to how we conducted the Tonali move, which we knew would be at risk if it leaked.

Who can leak though? Coaching staff? Nickson and Andy Howe, Jamie Reuben? Solis.

I mean I don't imagine we have many people directly involved in such things.

I am not surprised we were shoddy in the transfer market considering we had a makeshift recruitment team made up of a scouts and the manager's nephew. No DOF for a year has really damaged our progress this year. All things considered, the stand-ins did a decent job to actually get the numbers in across several holes in the squad, and at least we got two very decent strikers in to replace Isak, even though it probably cost us about £30m more than it should have.

That's what I'm wondering. The Howe's + Nickson overlap with the Tonali deal and seem unlikely. My questioning would start with everyone else.
