NUFC Transfer Rumours

I think there are people on here that would consider players like elanga a good deal if he comes good after 2 seasons.

I think that’d be a really poor transfer tbh.

I mean, who cares, it's better if he comes good than if he doesn't come good

The Cunha goal the other night against Arsenal showed the type of player we could do with, someone that can pull something out of their arse, take a chance and win a match. Other than Bruno we just don’t have anyone who can do that.

we signed those after working our way down the list, and they’ve the better of our summer signings.

Both Thiaw and Woltemade scream Nickson picks too, not Eddie’s

I can't give specific details but I know someone very close to Nickson.

He said to me that Nickson never gives anything away regarding potential deals but will occasionally give a view after the player has signed or left.

He told the person I know that:

1) He had not actively scouted Woltemade but was asked for his view on him as the deal was being negotiated. He told the club 'not to expect a prolific PL goalscorer' and that was his only involvement.

2) He spent the summer focused on our outgoing business and Andy Howe took over the incoming deal sheet.

3) When Ashley was owner, Nickson was a lone wolf but he now has a team and much more infrastructure yet 'he's never spent more time travelling'.

That's all the guy was told and Nickson is apparently very guarded but I thought the Woltemade stuff, in particular, was interesting...

Lines up as I'm pretty sure the media were crediting A Howe for our incomings.

Never thought i’d be envious of them cunts this season but they’ve got some good players in forward areas. Would have been a game changer if we’d have got Cunha in the summer.

Thought they looked very good going forward and have a good mix of creativity, power and pace in Fernandes, Amad, Cunha, Dorgu and Mbeumo.

I would take that. Think he’ll follow our ‘Anthony trajectory’ and do a Gordon. He’ll get double figures next year folks; you heard it here first.

Unfortunately for us the ridiculous rules we have in place enable clubs who are much poorer than us to spend way more. They wasted so much money but the rules allow them to continue to do so despite being 1b in debt before we talk about a new stadium they want to build

A few twitter ITK’s claimed that Nickson had been downgraded to outgoings this summer.

We were running threadbare in the summer and obviously jobs have to delegated, but it does concern me that someone like Nickson who had experience of negotiating would be sidelined by the Howe’s and in my opinion the results speak for themselves from the summer.

It's kind odd, we had two outgoings for money (isak aside who was managed by the ownership of we believe the manager) and that was Dubs for a nominal fee and Longstaff who was a firesale because of his contract.

Looks like Nickson was sidelined to me.

I stand corrected if this is indeed true about his influence in transfers coming in.

Odd mind that a guy with such a hit rate was moved to players going out.

The last few windows haven’t made a huge amount of sense, given Nickson’s track record. I would be backing him to the hilt and our summer window was pivotal on incomings. I know outgoings have been a major weakness for us but Nickson needed to be on incomings

Can we even afford to strengthen this January? We must be edging close to the PSR limit again and risk breaching the new spending-to-turnover regulations. With a 7-8th place sized budget, our squad is potentially at it's upper limit anyway unless we see a sustained, non-CL related increase in income.

I'd be amazed if we couldn't.

What was the point of selling Isak if it didn’t help us PSR wise?

That powder won't dry itself.

I'm assuming the Isak money is spread over a few years, and we'll get then next £30-40m in the summer.

Works the opposite way round.

It makes no sense to be in the position we are and not strengthen.

Our scouting and transfer structure is so disjointed and makes little sense to me. Feels like a constant power struggle no matter who we have in post.

But then again I said the same this time last year and we went on to win a cup and qualify for the CL.
