sanyi75
Keeping Hall and Miley is the most important thing, and if possible Tonali, Bruno, Joelinton and the others can go, we need to improve on player purchases, if the goal is a top 6 place then we really need quality players. We used to spend money with both hands, but we regretted signing Rayan, even though he is only 19 years old and talented.

Unless we’re entering a 3+ year rebuilding period where we’ve really changed our ambitions. It’ll be perfectly fine, the benchmark for those players is currently having us getting included on graphics for relegation in late April . There’s surely no way Botman goes on the back of the new contract, but I’d carry Gordon, Livramento, and Tonali to whomever will stump up acceptable money for them. There’s absolutely no way I’d be letting either of the Brazilians go, though, as that’s us losing our heart along with our best player and occasionally most talismanic player. AyeDubbleYoo
I personally think Tonali is really important to keep. If we had to sell a player it would be Tino for me, and it looks like Gordon is going. So I wouldn't sell more than those 2.

Other than those four I can live with selling anyone provided we can adequately replace them.

Everyone else has shown enough limitations to make me doubt the top teams would even want them badly enough unless they were paying a lower fee. These players are not worth as much as we would like to think they are. Is anyone really going to pay £75m for either Gordon or Tonali?
Mattoon
I would hope we have at least a few deals agreed in principle already, it will take a gargantuan effort to get things right in one window, but not impossible. Sell anyone that doesn't want to be here, there's no point in carrying players for another season, get rid of those aging out and build a team around Bruno, Miley and Hall. Sucks for us that its a World Cup year as that will likely slow things down too.
SteV
Tino will have to go if he doesn’t sign a new contract. His value is too high to allow him to leave for 50% less next summer, or worse still, nowt in two summers. I mean I suppose you could gamble that even if he doesn’t sign one now, he will do at some point in the next two years, but that would seem fairly reckless. Right but we need to sign a quality player for every one we sell, as well as replace the ones that don't have quality already. For me keeping Tonali is a much more solid move than trying to sign another CM that's better than him as well as the other signings we need.

For us it makes no sense to sell unless we get a fee which makes it worthwhile. But I'm not sure we will so some of these players with ideas above their station might be in for a rude awakening in the summer. I just hope they don't agitate for lower fees so they can go sit on the bench somewhere else.
Chicken Dancer
Think Tonali and Gordon will go and just got to hope we are more savvy in the market this time. Unless there’s an absolute bargain to be had, just fuck off signing PL players for big money and wages. Don’t play it safe, take risks. That being said I can’t get it out of my head we will sign Solanke for big money if Spurs go down (based on nowt of course).
andycap
Tonali seems like he would stay his agent is the problem. Gordon and tino will probably be the two main sales for us and maybe osula should a good offer came in for him.
Bunk Moreland
From Edwards: "The idea is to sign younger players with potential, moving away from the tried-and-tested Premier League approach favoured by Howe last year. He [Howe] is said to be happy with that and will still have a big say in recruitment meetings, which have already begun. Players have been scouted and shortlisted, led by sporting director Ross Wilson, to fit Howe’s vision for how he envisages the team will play. That would make a change in manager risky but not impossible. There will not be any “showbiz signings,” said one source. “We are not going to spend £80m on a player who is established in the Premier League,” they added. “Who comes in on a fat contract in their late 20s? That is not good business for anyone, but it’s definitely not good business for Newcastle United.” Wilson and Howe will speak at length about recruitment over the next two days, explaining the change in approach and what the ramifications will be. Gelling a new-look side will not be straightforward but there is buy-in from all involved. As for outgoings, players who are desperate to go will be allowed to do so, but only if the fee is acceptable. Gordon is valued at around £80m and it is likely to be a similar figure for Tonali. Livramento’s injury problems mean it is far more likely he stays. The full-back could even sign a new contract. Captain Bruno Guimaraes is also expected to stay." https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2026/04/29/eddie-howe-fighting-for-newcastle-job-what-do-save-it/

La Parka
I think we will sell Gordon and Tonali and go from there. Wissa will likely be sold at a loss to Turkey, especially with the Fene links in Jan. I can see a Brazilian or two coming in, with joelinton and Bruno we will have a pull. Especially the likes of Jow getting called up. From there - no idea. Think we will look in Germany/France/Belgium most likely. Hope we don't try our strategy of going for the biggest guns. sanyi75
I've always been with Howe, but I'm starting to think he's not the best fit for the job. He's always looking for excuses, the tactics and substitutions are predictable. Ramsey and Willock didn't convince with their performances either, except for Hall and Miley, everyone can go. According to the news, we were keeping an eye on Rayan, but we still let him go to Bournemouth, even though he would have been a good buy.

We're obsessed with Rayan I agree he looks decent but I don't think you're ever going to sign a replacement in January for a guy you only signed in summer. No matter how bad Elanga is. Not even Tonali's fault, but I think a new approach is very necessary.
