England's Tino Livramento

Interesting that Livramento seems a very different type to Trippier.

Where as Trippier wants to dink passes or play in triangles, this lad looks to want to burst past players. Another physical specimen. Good stuff.

Now that we have dead-ball aficionado Sandro, I like the idea of our next RB being an absolute juggernaut pacing up the wing

Not sure why a lot of people expected LB to be priority over RB, there was far less depth across Trippier/Krafth/Ashby than there is in Burn/Targett. Makes total sense that it’s a RB.

Seems we are probably suffering a 5m tax on the young English players we are signing. [emoji38]

Gordon = 40m

Barnes = 33m

Livramento = 30/35m

Would have all been much more accurate prices for position and age of said players.

It's been a looooooong time since Newcastle United have started hoovering up quality British/Irish players and I'm all for it.

Let's hope we aren't done.

That’s why I’m not overly harsh on Man Utd’s fees as clubs always charged them extra knowing they had the cash. The days of us getting a “bargain” are over but that’s not to say we can’t dig our heals in and not over pay massively. Though with this approach you’ll have to accept losing some targets or negotiations taking longer.

There's a case to be made either way tbh, a left-back of Livramento's quality would be more of an immediate upgrade to the first XI.

Really pleased with this signing regardless :)

The boss constantly comments on liking players who can fill different positions.

Yes this new lad can fill in for Tripps but he can also offer something further up on the right, can see him coming on for Almiron too.

Well we've got no-one at left back with the quality of Trippier, and have been relying on Burn(who has done a great job there) but he's always been just doing the job. We need a left footed Trippier, as it obvious Dummet can't do it any more, and EH really doesn't seem to like Targett that much.

Exactly this.

A Trippier tier LB would and will be a next level gamechanger to our team but we can likely continue with the depth we have at LB either to January or next summer. Getting Tino was an opportunity we couldn't miss and it hopefully locks down RB for the better part of a decade.

Fingers crossed we can get someone like Tierney loan to buy too!

There’s talk of Cancelo on loan but not sure his attitude fits ?

40 million is about the same as Trippiers cumulative transfer fees for his career.

It's infinitely more than Villa paid for Tielemans. Worrying.

Think we’re suffering a “Southampton’s shit deal buying Livramento with a ~40-50% sell on clause” tax.

Harsh on Manquillo who's arguably our second best right back.
