He was up against in my opinion one of the best right backs in the league. On Sunday he will be up against one of the worst defensive right backs in the league. He will torture TTA. andycap
He seems to come alive when he is one on one with his opponent and can run or lay off the ball to then receive it. The one thing he has is quality and a brain can find players with something out of the blue.
huss9
he was restricted by not having an overlapping left footer.
Pilko
Looked like our best bet for a goal or creating something all night and that's how it turned out. Has to start the final.

Displayname
Involved in anything remotely dangerous tonight for us today. He isnt a player that can do everything by himself, he needs to be one of many threats we have which leaves him some space. Cant complain about what he made with what he was given today. Kanj
Nobody gets much joy off AWB. Barnes is canny with the cute and tight creative shit. But fuck me if he’s got one pop at goal Sunday it’s breaking the net.

I really like Harvey. He is a very good player, maybe not elite. Eddie needs to get him minutes and figure out a path going forward.

alexf
Trippier sucks at left back. Lesser of two evils putting him in his most comfortable position. Tino arguable has had more good games at left back than right. But his crossing is a weakness on both sides, but atleast he can carry the ball and I'd rather have him 1v1 on Salah than pretty much anyone else in the squad. Trippier is even more painful at LB watch his England performances and Tino is the better defender facing Salah. David Edgar
He was involved in 3 of our best chances yesterday. Header and a shot in the first half. Both on target and needed saving. Assist for Bruno. He has legit world class reading of the game in the final third. There is a hell of a player there which we are not maximising to facilitate Gordon. mattypnufc
I mean when he's on form he's good, but not a chance he's Gordon levels in terms of overall game when they're both on it. Had his best half for us in a long while last night.

Had his best half for us in a long while last night. Two quite different players though. There's times where Barnes > Gordon and times where Gordon > Barnes, depending on the opposition. It's the Miley / Joelinton argument again, obviously Joelinton is the better player right now, but Joe can be so ineffective at times and you wonder if Miley would be a better fit. We should never in a million years be considering selling Harvey Barnes btw, I'm not sure we could find a better player to take his spot in the squad without taking a gamble on an "unknown" forrin (or going huge on someone obvious). mattypnufc
Its just he needs a run of games, and therefore unless Gordon is injured or suspended (ffs) he'll not be starting in his preferred position.
TaylorJ_01
I thought aside from the assist he was fairly average, but mostly I think its down to Tino at left back. Barnes didn't beat his man once and never had an option overlapping. Just kind of got lost and created nothing for Isak.
ExiledGeordie
He’s a goal scorer, you need them in one off cup finals.
Heron
Doesn't start for me on Sunday as I think he may well have more impact off the bench. The way I'd play I'd probably start Willock.

It's completely different though playing LB for England under Southgate. Our defence is too slow anyway, so it hardly matters what we do.

Not sure there is any answer, Targett would have worked better IMO, but he's not really the overlapping type either tbf. At least he can cross with his left foot, but he's not match ready anyway.
