How weak were they there though? Barnes isn’t known for being incredibly physical or super fast and he just ran through them with ease

Definitely his most aggressive game I felt since joining us and he’s deceptively fast when he needs to be. Almost seems to hold it back as a surprise for the right occasion.

Got to play on the left though like I said a few weeks ago. If you want Gordon and him to start you’ll get more for the team with him staying left. Question is can Gordon bring to the team what Murphy does on the right…

I see no reason why not unless it's in Gordon's head that he doesn't want to play there. That said, Murphy does seem to produce!

Gordon’s cross for Isak’s header against Arsenal at home shows he can produce there. He needs to get adaptable

Look where he was put when it was Murphy subbed and Barnes on a hat-trick.

Look where he plays when it’s him coming on for Murphy.

That is true, no idea what is behind the dynamics of why these decisions are made.

I couldn't believe it when he just stubbornly charged through their backline for his second goal. The pass to Isak was the safer option but he smelled the opportunity and forced it into existence. Beautifully direct and clinical.

Glad to see his long distance pace is still there to bully the opponents. Obviously one of our key player for the run-in

No disrespect to Gordon, just I think Barnes form is obviously better now and deserves to start. He can take his time to rest and ready for the next season

In the Premier League, he has the same amount of goal involvements as Gordon this season.

Barnes: 8 Goals, 3 Assists, 1168 minutes

Gordon: 6 Goals, 5 Assists, 2134 Minutes

13 goals & 6 assists in 1962 minutes in the league since he arrived. That's around 2/3s of a season he's been involved with over just less than 2 seasons. His output compares with anyone in his position.

I wish there was a system that we could involve both him & Gordon but it'd probably be Joelinton that you take out which takes a lot from there. The block of games we've lost at home type games to the likes of Brighton, Fulham, West Ham where we struggled to break them down, maybe?

13 league goals for us is one more than Maxi and level with HBA. Not bad for someone it's been argued we shouldn't have signed because it gave us two left wingers. I get the "PSR means you can only have one nice thing, not two nice things" argument, but look at the attacking options Villa have on their bench. The "its only Harvey Barnes" lot are as blind as Townsend saying he lacks goals.

Barnes got 13 in the Leicester relegation season, one more than Liam Delap is on now. Young, that many in a season in a struggling team, and available for a relegation price makes it pretty much a no-brainer for whoever can get it over the line. Arsenal should probably sign him, but he mightn't be glamourous enough for them. He'd have to be badly advised and/or barking mad to go to Man U.

Are we selling him?

Andy Townsend on my stream giving some waffle after his goal that finishing has been the only part of his game that he is missing, ffs that is his strongest bit, what do these jokers get paid for.

Don't think it was Townsend. I think it was Matt Holland, but he does sound very much like Townsend.

Who do you want to replace Eddie Howe in the summer though?

Never stated that wanted Howe sacked if you go through my comments, I questioned is he the right guy to take us forward onto the next level, is he the next Fergusson and if the answer is no,  then my question remains .

That injury against Sheffield United really fucked up his career with us. Not only did it keep him out for a while it clearly affected him when he came back.

Feels like he's back to his full potential now and it's perfectly timed.

Moved to the right when Gordon came on. Not sure I understand that really. Personally I think Gordon should be there instead whilst Barnes is doing so well.

Whilst thats true I can also see the thought in putting Gordon on the left after a few games out for familiarisation if nothing else.

It's Barnes position through to May though if his form holds up
