Don't think it's helped him having to play so much the last few months. Ideally, him and Gordon spread the load on the left, but the absolute car crash of a centre-forward situation has meant we can't really do that. I like one of two aspects of his game, one is approaching top drawer and yet there's room for improvement
Shadow Puppets
I think he’s a really really good player and very far down on the list that I’d like to see us improve upon. He’s our best finisher for a start, and one of his key strengths is that he’s almost always available to play. Hardly any injuries. I really do think that him, Thiaw and Burn to an extent are really starting to look tired though. A game everything 3-4 days since November will take it out of any player. Chuffed for him for his England call up. Edited March 22 by Shadow Puppets

alexf
Like others has looked tired recently. Starts off ok in games like against Barca but then fades. Not surprised though. Feel like he's played so many 90mins recently when others were getting rests. But struggled like everyone else today. Seemed to hesitate everytime he made half a yard to cross with his left. KaKa
There was a clamour for him to start on the left. Now he has been given the position over the last number of weeks and isn't performing, it's because he's tired. When Gordon was being torn to shreds for his performances there, no one was taking into account his tiredness. The guy just hasn't been good enough. These excuses are painful to read. None of the players have consistently been good enough. Maybe Hall? it’s why we are where we are
Lush Vlad
I thought he was really poor and kept trying to play on sunderland players missing the ball and spin off. But they would usually just nick it and then go on the attack. Not making excuses for him. But he seems to have lost a bit of spark and quickness. It's like being a super sub and in and out the team suited him. But playing game after game is catching up with him and it's more noticeable with him than some of the others. AyeDubbleYoo
Barnes has always struggled to impose himself on games generally, he's just not quick or athletic enough or he doesn't have the battling mentality. When he gets space and chances he's quality, but in games where we're not playing well I never expect him to impact it very much. Also why I don't think he's a good sub. Doctor Zaius
Effective in patches sums him up. He has spells in games where he looks good, he has runs of games when he looks good. He also has plenty where he produces nothing. That's the difference between a decent player and a very good player. He's just too inconsistent. Two league goals since November and not a single assist all season. Lucky to get in an inflated England squad. Won't make the final cut.

Novocastrian
Looks tired, he’s nowhere near one of our main issues. He’s been inconsistent but he’s scored important goals and earlier in the season he was getting fucked about for an ineffective Gordon.
Yorkie
Fantastic news for him and us. He's already played 50 games this season though and we'll need him for the run in, so hopefully he doesn't feature much.
