But so many poor games since then. The overall state of the squad, who we need to sell/cash in on and how many will need to be brought in to up the quality is honestly kind of terrifying. KaKa Posted April 18 Share Posted April 18 I swear every time Gordon plays on the left Hall is bombing up the pitch on the overlap and Gordon never uses him. Then as soon as Barnes is out there you don't see Hall overlapping as much, when Barnes really needs that kind of support. Can't help but feel tactically the team just isn't being setup well enough to put players with specific strengths in positions to get the best out of them. He made a tackle on Barnes early, snarled in his face and then contiued to shut him out all day long. Barnes knew he was beaten. Jiminez reminded me of the attitude we used to have. Same reason he’s no good as an impact sub, when there’s a tough job on he’s sadly just not the person to tip the balance. He's not going to go past a decent full back, so the only way he works is as part of a team which passes their way in. Not really how we play though. St1pe Posted May 11 Share Posted May 11 Been one of his biggest critics over the course of the season but didn’t realise his goal tally was so high. Which is impressive given his lack of starts and the fact he doesn’t seem to get the same grace period other wingers have got out of form. Wondering if it’s worth just persisting with him as the first team LW given we lack goals across the team. Although I imagine we’ll try and replace Gordon with someone of comparable standard. He's more like an old fashioned poacher or fox in the box. Some games you can tell after 5 mins he's gonna struggle for sure. I think Howe doesn't like his inconsistency.
