Doubt he's England's left back now either. That Man City kid will make it his own.

O'Reilly was class against Arsenal, always thought Hall was clearly ahead but there's not much in it.

How the fuck does he get dropped after the season he's had.

Joelinton out and wanted some extra height on for set pieces. Howe has mentioned similar before.

Definitely.  Given Arsenal’s height and dominance from those situations, it’s not crazy to drop the smallest player in the side in a one-off.

It won’t be a one off. Eddie will play the same side next week.

It has to be why Pope started, too. That and because we surely can’t be thinking of buying Ramsdale and he has been shite.

Not that we looked any better set up with Pope and Burn in.

I get the excuse not for starting him. But the moment they scored from a short corner to get around our giants then the whole reason becomes redundant.

Even more so when we are chasing the game and have nothing to lose and Burn is on a yellow card anyways. We needed better quality on the ball and he is one of our best players. Poor decision not to bring him on.

Nah, Murphy on the bench, Willock on the right and Big Joe back in. Otherwise yeah, same team no doubt

Big Joe missed Brighton aswell, two match ban for 10 yellows

In fairness I thought we looked more solid at the back today than in a long time. I think Arsenal looked pretty toothless which might have helped, however, it might be a different story if we play Burn against Minteh next week.

Hall has been our player of the season, pretty comfortably I think, but playing Burn today made sense.

So much sense that we conceded from that side and a set piece whilst having a significantly worse attack and failing to score

I don’t mind Burn sitting deep and holding position around the 18-yard box when we’re defending. But we really missed Hall going forward today, especially given how shaky Arsenal looked at times.

There’s nothing more frustrating than seeing Burn push up trying to get involved in attack, because it’s clear his teammates don’t fully trust him in those situations. You could see it a few times when he tried to overlap Ramsey and was just ignored as a passing option.

Mind I would say it’s also a bit concerning of Howe to favour Burn over Hall, who’s arguably one of the most exciting and effective left-backs in England right now. Classic Howe loyalty imo
