Not the greatest source, but seems to fit the mood music.

To me this reads as we offered him the chance to stay at Palace and he rejected it, he's on his way!! :frantic:

Personally not taking Football Insider as any form of source - aggregator of clickbait and no more - and recent snippet not news. Could still happen.

My earlier response was that there was zero chance of Dougie leaving or agreeing to midseason. None. As it happens Palace now look an interesting prospect and I wouldn't take it as a lack of ambition to see how far that can go in the next 12-18 months.  More an ambition fulfilled. Doubt if salary is the issue - more reassurances about direction of travel with outgoing transfers.

Newcastle obvs have a higher ceiling but in some senses he'd be moving back. You still have a lot of deadwood to clear  - that process is almost done at Palace now (albeit at a lower level) and has taken a good 3 seasons - and rationally until you have cleared the dead wood there are limits to how far you can go. It's about managing the departures as well as the incomings. Fighting the uber machines you need to make every pound in salary and transfer fee pay. At the level you're aiming for you really do need 22 starters with cover in every position to compete on equal terms - that will take years to achieve and otherwise you're relying on no Euro football and injury droughts.

We don't really have much dead wood to clear out.

Dummett, Richie and Hendrick’s contracts expire next month. Fraser will probably get a move in the summer, or go on loan again until his contract expires next year.

Hayden and Lewis will probably go on loan again until their contracts expire next year.

Targett is possibly heading that way but he has just been unfortunate with injuries, there's no one else that could be described as dead wood.

Haven’t we bought/or buying Hayden out of his contract?

Fair enough, they probably gave him permission to urinate wherever he wants in the whole of Croydon. Pretty sweet deal.

Get the bloke from that dodgy 777 lot in.

Fair enough, got to respect his loyalty to them and they’re on the up

Yeah, that's fair enough.

We went about it the right way, didn't piss off Palace, and allowed Freedman the space to properly think it through and discuss further with Parish. He got himself a nice new contract, which is good for him.

We absolutely have to make sure we are bringing in people that are all in, and so not at all mad at this.

Looks like it could be that guy from Bournemouth

Hould on, it looks like Twitter might have provided me with false info, ignore that.

Palace have had about 6 good games [emoji38]

They have some good players but their hyping because of one good run has been fairly mental imo.

Ah well, onto the next one. Lots of good operators for this position imo.

Everyone's already got that permission

In all seriousness though, if he decided our project wasn't for him, or he was loyal to palace in the end, or just played the contract leverage game then fair play to him. The grass isn't always greener.
