Barnes23 Posted Monday at 13:17 Share Posted Monday at 13:17 Don't think Trafford is a better option than Pope at this moment in time. Would like to keep Pope if Trafford is to be the GK signing.
Checko Posted Monday at 13:59 Share Posted Monday at 13:59 Assuming we want Trafford, wonder if they'd accept a lower price if we loaned him back to them for a year. Keeping their super tight defence together gives them the best chance of staying up so that should be worth a lot to them. Plus, for all the talk of him being England's next No1. for the next decade, he hasn't actually had a good year at Premier League level yet. He had a really good year in L1. Struggled in the prem, had a really good year in the Championship. Buy him now but loan him back to reduce the fee and allow him to get the extra PL experience with Burnley. Then he can come to us when he's got that extra bit of top level experience. Meanwhile Neek Pope is still a quality keeper and Dubs can cover too. Of course if he's ready to go now then perhaps we want to just make it happen. Would seem a bit mad to spend our money on players who won't even play for us this year when we really need to beef up the squad for Champions League. But might be worth it in the long-term. Sibierski Posted Monday at 14:39 Share Posted Monday at 14:39 People need to get on board that Trafford is a bloody good goalkeeper for his age. League One Team of the Year. Championship Team of the Year. Already had experience of plying trade and making his mistakes in Prem. All by he's 22 and 150 pro games. Maintain if he was European and coming from a club abroad, people would be losing their mind over getting him.

Ikon Posted Monday at 14:49 Share Posted Monday at 14:49 I’ve only seen him for two games this season. Thought he looked flappy and weak when trying for crosses/aerial duels. Hopefully I just watched the wrong games. By the sounds of it he seems to have had a great season.
Fenham Mag Posted Monday at 14:55 Share Posted Monday at 14:55 (edited) Played too many games at this young age, his wrists will be like popadoms by the time he's 30. Edited Monday at 14:55 by Fenham Mag

That's all that matters for the immediate term. He didn't look like a complete, PL ready goalkeeper. Doesn't mean he won't be excellent in the future - or maybe he has come a long way in the last year.
SUPERTOON Posted Monday at 15:16 Share Posted Monday at 15:16 He really struggled in the prem last time, so much so he was dropped for Muric, who is absolutely awful.

Take away his kicking, and that he sometimes is slow going down, the rest of his game is high quality.

gbandit
I think this is another area where buying outside the UK has major benefits to buying from the home market. Not only is it cheaper but it’s also less likely to get fucked over by our rivals
