Haven't seen your theory reported anywhere - ie, that bringing in Guehi might involve the requirement of selling AG (or an Isak, Bruno, etc.) next summer.

Sources?

Maths and a few of us screaming into the void.

I don’t recollect seeing much in the press about our impending FFP issues last season - and the few of us raising it were constantly poo-pooed.  Even when Swiss Ramble raised in back in May, that was shouted down.

The sums aren’t difficult - though apparently they are to our region’s sports hacks, who somehow manage to spill ink on the most asinine of NUFC-related shite, but can’t do simple arithmetic.

Let the man cook moving forward

I believe in him to get things changed up, let him bring some of his own people in and get things going

Not saying it’s a deliberate ploy at all, but the failure of this window to land a high profile expensive target plays into his hands for a change in approach going forward

I think next summer will be interesting. Not sure the January window is one which you can usually get long term targets.

Well and good, but we weren't placing 60m offers in the january window leading up to those issues, either

Sad Arrested Development GIF

What pisses me off is other than Guehi We heard nothing at all about anyone else and it looks clear he didn't bring many options to the table.

We didn’t have the time that we would this year to offload at that point.

Our income is going to be roughly the same as last season.  Our players costs are roughly 100% of turnover, so there is no headroom.  This is the last season where you can run a £105m FFP loss over three seasons - but remember we ran up a big loss in 22/23, then last season we had a big clawback, but the issue would be that we’re already maxed-out in terms of player costs vs revenue.  The likely deficit available would be c.£70m for the season based on the last two years - but we’ll already starting out at a loss, even without the Hall and Olunga transfers.

We need to actually start selling players - but we don’t seem able to do this (other than in a panic).

I fucking hope so.

James Trafford, Calvert-Lewin, Marc Gheuyi (fuck off), that Fulham player, Anthony Elanga, Lloyd Kelly.

One of them is a big improvement on what we have. And £70m wasn’t enough. Whinge about PSR (and rightly so) but do yourselves a fucking favour.

Apart from Olise think the links have been seriously underwhelming, certainly nothing to get anyone excited about.

Forgot about Olise but agree, would’ve been a ridiculous signing.

Again though, overpriced and based in the PL. The amount of times we hear how the club have to be clever to mitigate PSR concerns and then they are bidding 70 million Great British Pesetas for a centre half.

The rest of them are players I’d expect us to be targeting with the bacon scranner as manager under Ashley

Those links were ridiculous though. Bayern and Newcastle have bid for Olise. Brilliant.

It’s to be hoped Mitchell can influence some change going forward, but if Edwards article is true sounds like he’s just as culpable in the drawn out chase of Guehi.

Underwhelming AF. Why bother hiring him this summer?

Probably a panic appointment, after failing with the Freedman approach. Needed to get someone in, has a reputation, no club, easier deal to make then get involved with trying to pry someone away from a club again.

Think once dust settles, depending on what vision Yasir still has for the club, Eales could be the one that gets the chop.

Eales has nothing to do with player trading though, purely increase financials for sustainable growth.

Some proper knee-jerk reactions to a bad window here.

The guys not been here two months yet, do you really expect him to plan and execute everything in less than 8 weeks? Let’s give him a proper judgement this time next year.
