His first year at Milan was very good, then he lost confidence and even the coach's confidence... he's not bad, far from it, but he's not a player who changes the defense either. He's at his best when he's alongside a charismatic teammate who knows how to direct the defense, but he's certainly not a leader who directs his teammates. He's strong against physical players, very weak against technical players... his real value is €20 million, but it seems Allegri wants to keep him because he's functional for the three-man defense he has in mind. If Milan play a 4-3-3 (instead of a 3-4-3), he could easily leave for €20 million.

Is his agent a cunt? Because that's got to be our first filter moving forward.

Based on everything I've read this summer, I don't think he'll need to be a leader. So maybe some of his flaws can be hidden somewhat.

I guess that would explain why the club have looked at him several times before.

I don't know, Stipic is practically unknown in Italy.

I have to say that Como offered Tiaw a salary of 4 million (he's getting one now) and he (Tiaw) refused. In a football world that is increasingly dominated by mercenaries, kudos to him.

Thanks for the update, useful insights from someone who knows him better than anyone else on here

I've seen at least thirty Newcastle matches (nostalgia for Sandro) in two years and, in my opinion, Thiaw isn't an improvement for you. You need someone like Pavlovic, paired with Botman they would be the best defense in the Premier League !!!

Nowhere near a German Titus.

A good player who may have issues mentally.
No doubt Howe and co have decided he is worth making a project out of, I think he’s been a long term lingering sort of target that we could have moved for after the Guehi situation last summer.

New club, new start could do him a world of good.

Is Yunus Mensah still being sold on or has Allegri changed his plans?

Trust me....Musah, not Mensah, is an absolute disgrace. If you decide to buy him, I'll personally come to your house and I'll cook for you a fabulous carbonara.... for a month!!!

I'll do it for all the 50,000 at St.James too.

I mean, we could do with a midfielder now, and I wouldn't say no to a carbonara.

Surprised to find out he's a Yank. And as we all know...."No thanks to Yanks".

Apologies, no idea why I typed Mensah. He came very highly rated, what went wrong?

This is a good read. He's still very much a work in progress, and his decision-making, particularly in a midfield two, has cost Meelan in several instances. In a midfield three, and under Howe's coaching, he can still be quite capable. Napoli have been linked with him recently, so he's not beyond redemption.
