What reports are they? Telling you now we are stuck with him.

The Athletic primarily, but echoed by plenty others. There will be a market for Wissa, but it’ll be at a huge loss no doubt.

Wissa only signed a 3 year contract right? At least that will take a big chunk out of his book value.

No chance he signed a 3 year deal. It's 4 minimum but wouldn't shock me if it was 5.

On a 3 year deal he would essentially be one of the most expensive players in the league on a squad cost basis

Well given how difficult it is to find a striker that fit Howe’s tactics, I’d prefer to stick with starting Osula next season, and try to find the next Osula in the market (10-20m ish, younger, similar attributes) to serve as the backup.

Still a bit clumsy and naive, but he's now a threat at Premier League level. His emergence makes the task of rebuilding the attack a fair bit easier.

And PS - that goal against Man U is well inside my top 10 of Newcastle moments.

Shame that Denmark failed to qualify for WC. Think he'd have gotten time and may have continued the momentum through to (hopefully) a successful 2026-2027 campaign with us.

Interesting player. Seems very hungry to succeed and willing to work hard. Lacks polish but still a young'un, and even if he doesn't end up leading the line he'll be worth something on the back end. O0

He’s still very raw, but the way he dribbles the ball and the speed he covers the ground shows a lot of potential. He also seems comfortable using both feet, I think that’s what makes his direction changes so unpredictable. I don’t think I’ve wanted a player to succeed more than him, he just seems like a really good character to have in the squad.

Love him and think he's a great option for us BUT I don't think we should go into next season with him as our main striker. Kind of reminds me of when Shearer retired and we were all hoping Shola would step up and be our new number 9.

Him and Big Wolte for me.

He has natural pace and strength, but at first I didn't think he had enough else in his game to make the grade. I daresay it's testament to his application and the quality of the coaching he's received, that he now looks effective at this level. I think it means that we don't need to try and buy a similar player like Delap any more. He's really starting to bully defenders.

We need another striker as well, and the player who has recently caught my eye is Christian Kofane at Leverkusen. However, I fear that he's being chased by clubs that are, let's say, more advanced in their development than us.

Big Nick is showing some nice touches, but I don't think he's quite strong enough for the Premier League.

The main part of his game I love, he looks absolutely horrible to play against from a cb's point of view. Getting stronger physically and puts himself about but he's electric running in behind which obviously defenders hate.

Could really help SJP become a bear pit again if he leads from the front with that hunger + work rate the rest of the team will follow

Can't be overstated how important a player like this is. Andy Carroll being one that basically built his early career on giving defenders heart attacks.

Should become even better as we add more players who can exploit the space and chaos he creates as well.

I really don't know what we'll do with the strike force, I guess ideally we get Wissa out and sign someone else who can run in behind and press in a similar way Osula does.

Feels more of a Leon Best 10/11 streak to me rather than much more.

Oh ye of little faith!

Isak's first NUFC season vs. Osula's two seasons with NUFC. PL and domestic cups. No CL, because I couldn't get it to work. It said Isak had "3 squads".

Don't see much difference there.

Next up, shooting. Don't see much difference here either. Certainly not enough for one to be a "60M+ best prospects in Europe" and the other some "raw" kid you'd sell for 30M. You'd probably have to watch film to know why more of Osula's shots are going in.

No passing data on Fbref anymore, but what I could find on WhoScored had Osula with 80.8% pass success rate, first-season Isak on 78% in the league. Again, not "raw".

Perhaps we need to start believing what we are seeing!

Fbref data is here if you want to play with it.

Was a good article, nice not to be all doom and gloom - I did like the term "funstratung" [emoji38]

I don’t really like the way Osula gets talked about for the most part. He missed a couple of kicks and looked like he might fall over while actually not falling over. He’s not a comedy character.

Maybe it’s harmless I suppose, gets Caulkin an article at least.

Yeah, it's definitely a bit weird.

Also seen a number of comments in the article and outside of it going on about his "rehearsed" celebration, and him pulling out the glove.

In the extended match highlights you can actually see the glove was thrown at him from the crowd. He didn't have it hidden in his sock as some kind of prop or planned thing!
