It’s in the context If he gets a bad injury then they’ve lost out on £70m on a player that’s out months injured with his contract running down

If we got an offer for Isak and we turned it down as we had no desire to see. He then got injured for a couple of months - people wouldn’t be saying “we’ve fucked ourselves there as we could have sold him”. It only makes a difference if they wanted to sell.

Ornstein can get fucked as well, several times this summer he’s been used by other clubs to make our bids public, effectively scuppering anything happening under any sort of cloak of privacy.

If Palace have told him we have bid, he's going to report it.

Pretty sure we did the same with Minteh and Romano, and have tried doing the same with Ben Jacobs and Miggy.

Don’t believe being cup tied for the Carabao is that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things, but regardless of him starting tonight, this deal has never felt close to happening.

We need to move on and fast. CB, RW and likely a RB if Tripps goes.

Not sure. Can't see us paying £70m for a player who we can't even use in the competition that realistically we've got the best chance of winning.

Whole saga has been a complete shit show.

Pretty sure we're going to end up with either Disasi or Chalobah, tbh. Maybe loan, maybe a cheap permanent.

Would prefer that than giving Palace £70m for a player worth no more than £40m tbh [emoji38]

It’s clever only if we end up paying their inflated asking price. If we walk away Palace gets nothing and Guehi probably leaves for half the price next summer.

To us next summer for like 25-30m

Or he signs a new contract

It’s a risky play, Parish has a history of these

Are people really convinced that we have no other irons in the fire? That it’s been Guehi or bust for the past month? Not sure what evidence there is for that.

100% convinced of it, which will be clear in a few days. Unless we get someone on loan.

Come on, the Tapsoba link wasn’t realistic? My question is do we want to fill a position or do we want

Guehi which are two different things.

Think we do, but the clock is ticking. And if not Guehi what is the quality on the next target?

Still think spending weeks negotiating to then pay the full asking price would be a worse look than missing out. I really hope we have walked away.

Man City, Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool walk in and get that deal done. Man Utd in clown show mode did the same as us with Antony, Sancho and Maguire and got both rinsed and laughed at. Chelsea did it with Fernandez but that was more about release clause payment structure.

We look pretty naive and ready to be taken advantage of.

So much talent out there being snapped up by other clubs and here we are, trying to overpay for Guehi and still not getting it done.

Heads need to roll because of this. Shambles doesn't even begin to cover it.

It’ll be disappointing for sure but who’s heads would you want to roll exactly?

Massively overpriced. Feel a bit concerned that anyone in the club wants to blow our entire budget in him tbh.

However, bringing no RCB and no RW in this windows is incredibly bad.

at least we have 8 keepers now

I’m pretty sure you used to be one of the positive ones 😂

I think even the most extreme happy clapper (not saying Shearergol is) can admit this summer has been an absolute shit show. Constantly mentioning Ashley every time people are visibly upset about something is so lame.

The club prioritises European qualification imo, though obviously the cup presents a route into that, winning the cup is small compared to what European football brings.

Just 4 weeks since this broke. Should've been concluded one way or the other ages ago.

Fairly unimpressive last few windows from the club, it has to be said.

It probably was concluded ages ago - we’re all buying into reported supplies stories and using them to judge the club on.

This is the same press when they report we’re selling someone we say they know fuck all.
