Think it’s much more likely we thought he was a good fit but he has mentally struggled to adapt to the move.

This is a concern like

By now he should have been threatened physical harm if he keeps coming short for the ball, especially when there's space in behind for him to run into, or if he forces a pass inside when he has room to take his man on on the outside, or if he doesn't put the ball in the box early and often when he has the room to do so.

This guy is as basic a player as it gets, who has some stand out physical attributes. He has to have everything spelt out for him on the pitch and it has to be as simple as possible.

I never get the impression he has been given any kind of instructions on the pitch. They're just sending him out there to make things happen. He is never that sort of player. He has no idea what he's doing and there's no chemistry with the rest of the team when he's out there either, as he has been in and out of the team, and so they have no idea about him and what he's going to do either.

It may well be a poor signing, but its being made to look infinitely worse.

This weekend we'll no doubt get to see Minteh running wild against Newcastle again.

He stays high up the pitch and they get him the ball early as an outlet to run at his full back time and time again in space.

If he were at Newcastle he'd be coming towards his goal and getting swarmed and bullied off the ball or being forced into errors with the ball bouncing off him, and would have been written off early and often.

How can you sign a player and not know what they're about and have no plan of how to exploit anything they do well.

Honestly, just for last summer alone, everyone that signed off on the deals, manager included should be on their way out, but looks like they will be getting another crack at it, and they are very fortunate IMO.

Don't know why he shimmies up to the full back with his left foot repeatedly. Just keep the ball on your right and gan for it down the line.

Genuinely think Obertan was better.

As bad as Elanga's been at times I've never thought that he's a coward. That alone puts him (and most players we've had) above Obertan for me.

His feet have struggled to adapt to the ball more like.

A winger that can't come short and make simple passes is a problem.

Then he struggles to beat a man, cross or shoot. Like... there's not a lot to work with

This is what I have an issue with as well. I was willing to believe it was just a mental issue of playing for a big club - which is a massive problem in itself - but he's not even doing the basics right like first touch or short passes. Sometimes he can play a sublime first time pass, next time it pings off his shins into touch.

It just reeks of poor control.

At least Wissa has the injury excuse. This guy has been even worse imho.

I hadn't seen the one at 1.33 on that video, the backheel to self straight in to touch, wow.

I personally think we planned on selling Isak and replacing him with one of our first-choice targets like Joao Pedro or Ekitike plus Wissa and continuing broadly as we were. Even in that scenario I think there was a case for signing a more technical winger. And his mentality appears to be an issue. He seems mild mannered and nice but fragile and without the kind of wherewithal to work out his problems on the pitch. I think you can question the profile of several of our signings in that regard. But I don't think Elanga is a write-off and I think he could still develop into a decent squad player in a winning team.

We know he's much better technically than what he's shown since he arrived. He obviously is supposed to be able to control the ball

We absolutely don’t know he’s much better technically than what he’s shown.

Mate, I know you’re the ultimate judge of ball but of course we do.

Just look at his goals and assists for Forest. He scored a great goal off his left foot for Sweden the other week.

He's been bad, there’s no denying that. But he’s performing below expectations and below what should be his average performance levels.

He scored a great goal for us (forget the team - Man U maybe? or was it the cup). Scored a brace in Barcelona.

Cisse scored a bag of great goals for us. Harvey Barnes has a great highlight reel for us alone. Ameobi turned Desailly and Ferdinand inside out on his day.

A lot of players will look great with their highlights.

I've watched this lad closely for what must be at least 500 minutes. His lack of fundamental control is apparent. It was apparent from moment 1.

I've seen lads here that have lacked heart or desire or didn't look up to it physically. Thauvin & Cabella in particular. I couldn't really tell you about how good they were - just they weren't strong/quick/determined enough for the league. None of that is true for Elanga I give him that. But the amount of poor control, misplaced simple passes - that's indicative of his ability.

I have just watched this again for who knows what reason. He does have a sense of humour at least as it's totally ironic how some of the passes he plays which are allover the place, then has the audacity to wave his hands up as if it's a team-mates' fault [emoji38]
