STM Posted Thursday at 13:17 Share Posted Thursday at 13:17 I'd go: Pope Tino Schar Burn Hall Tonali Longstaff Bruno Gordon Joelinton Isak Keep Bruno on that left for his link up with big Joe. Longstaff can sit a touch and allow Gordon to operate further forward. Longstaff gets pelters (and rightly so at times) but there's no doubt the team seems to function better with him in there. The most crucial thing is that Tonali starts DM. Even if we don't win, a good performance with these new roles will reshape our season.
Nine Posted Thursday at 13:19 Share Posted Thursday at 13:19 (edited) Bruno will be back at #6 without doubt, he’s our most press resistant and creative midfielder so it’s a no brainer especially against a good side Edited Thursday at 13:20 by Nine

TRC Posted Thursday at 14:11 Share Posted Thursday at 14:11 Ben White also possibly injured. If they have Kiwior, Partey and in that back line we can get at them. No Ode either and Saka isnt 100%. Pope Hall Burn Schar Livra Sandro Bruno Willock (Joelinton) Joelinton (Willock) Isak Gordon
alexf Posted Thursday at 14:21 Share Posted Thursday at 14:21 We could play really well and still lose unfortunately such is Arsenal's quality these days. But it would be nice if we can try and put a run of form together and get the season back on track.

Have a bit more confidence for this one after last night though.

Similar in being press resistant I agree, although I think Bruno still has the edge there. But Bruno is far more creative overall, and Tonali is superior physically. Personally I feel like they pick themselves when it comes to who is 6 and who is 8 if they are starting games together. Thought he'd got a season-ender for some reason. He's absolutely massive for them. Would go as far as saying his availability determines whether or not they're in the title race. Hopefully only fit enough for the bench.
Pixelphish Posted Thursday at 15:04 Share Posted Thursday at 15:04 Is it too much to ask for a really obviously bad decision that leads to a goal in our favour?
JEToon Posted Thursday at 15:08 Share Posted Thursday at 15:08 Even if Odegaard does play, and I would say it is still very much open to question if he does, it is tough to see him being given 90 and more likely a last 30 minutes. One of the, loads of, positives of yesterday is that a few will be coming off the bench with confidence, be it Longstaff or Willock chucked at the game late, or if a non-starter Barnes, a form impact from the bench should be there for us. But hopefully St James will be a bear pit on Saturday and they'll wilt under the cosh.

Sibierski Posted Thursday at 18:19 Share Posted Thursday at 18:19 When you play the top sides, you need to meet them at the right time and we are. They haven’t clicked yet, Odegarrd been injured, Gabriel could be out, they’ve not been scoring as freely. If we can get the tempo going again early and get the early goal, I fancy us. Getting back to grinding out a 1-0 win would do us several more levels confidence then winning 3-2 for example IMO. As it’s that defensive solidity we are not confident in, and form all comes being solid at the back.

AyeDubbleYoo Posted Thursday at 23:03 Share Posted Thursday at 23:03 It’s interesting that we’re now moving Gordon but not so we can play Barnes.
Mattoon Posted Thursday at 23:04 Share Posted Thursday at 23:04 I hope its a really controversial goal again and we beat them 1-0 for the tears and ultimately the schadenfreude.
alexf Posted Thursday at 23:06 Share Posted Thursday at 23:06 Was Barnes on the bench Vs Chelsea? Seemed odd he got no minutes. Might be a message from Eddie as he was really poor in the reverse Chelsea fixture. However that shouldn't undo alot of the good things Barnes has produced already this season. Didn't he get a small knock/tweak just before the league game v Chelsea? On te bench as a last resort, although that's not very Howe in approach I concede

Does very little when he's not cutting in a scoring worldies. Very very weak and passive in general play tbh.

Because I’ve wanted us to go for more technical/composed players to evolve and improve our in general play and control of possession. Saying that, we can still be direct and intense and press. Just would have wanted someone totallly different.
