A game against a big side?

Players will turn up for this and it will be a narrow defeat with a good performance.

It isn’t about playing against a big side, it’s more like we struggle to play against low blocks.

I do think it’s a bit of both. I do think certain players do really turn up for the big TV fixtures against the better sides. As well as it suiting us that the other team want the ball and we can find some space.

Not even really a complaint or gripe, as such. I think it is true of all teams to some degree. Players up their game for the more important games or against the bigger sides. Sort of human nature for a lot of players, I guess.

We'll play surprisingly good, only to be let down by one dumb mistake or a shit decision. We'll hope that we can at least take the performance with us to Brentford only to lose 2-0 in a lacklusture performance. There'll be some nearly creaming themselves with delight over being able to paint everything black on here while others will be on suicide watch.

Fuck it, I’m going for a ludicrously unlikely 2-1 win.  Because why not?  (Apart from literally all the evidence to the contrary)

Yep, it’s football

It's almost more about the performance, than a win. If we can get going again, take it with us for the rest of desember and come out for the better after that could be a huge boost going in to the second half of the season.
A performance where we actually look good, create something, and no one will complain. Everything is up for grabs, and it would be fun to remind Liverpool that it is a long season!

Hard to say which Newcastle team decides to show up. Hopefully it's the one that try's to win.

We will try to win, there’s no doubt effort will be there IMO.

It’s just a question of:

Will we make any silly mistakes? Probably.

Will we still be dysfunctional in midfield with a flat three and played around? Likely.

Will we be clinical? Doubtful.

Arsenal game is benchmark, but even that game, Arsenal were weak and didn’t push it. Rice header late on was a sitter. Can’t see Liverpool being as meek as Arsenal were in that game.

If we do build on it. Then fine. But we’ve shown time and again we can play against teams that give us space to run into and tend to raise it for the big boys when we’re on TV.

What happens tonight is almost irrelevant, to me (I’m sure I’ll be sayinf this later :lol:It’s a bit of a free hit and I also think there will be large chunks of the game where we look decent.

The next 3 games after this will tell us more about the season and if Howe can start to get a tune out of the current squad. As it’s been more of a David Guetta Kiss FM remix sort of tune this season, as opposed to a Beethoven symphony.
