Manchester United vs. Newcastle United: 30/12/24 @ 20:00 (Live on Sky Sports)

Recommended Posts

I’ll be very disappointed if we don’t put these leaky roof, rat infested, penny pinching, crybaby losers to the sword. CL quali is in our hands from this point. When we get going, with our fans as well we’re unstoppable, we’ve seen it. Eddie and the players need to stay focused and please please no injuries.

Just got to hope with Fernandes and Ugarte out that they don't luck into a different set up that works for them.

Just be more pace in the side.

Think we'll struggle because of the output from yesterday, but there's no reason we can't be solid as a unit and attack them on the counter with the transitional dominance in the centre of the pitch. Best giving them much of the ball since there's no Bruno, because the shot from outside the box isn't there and likes of Garnacho / Diallo / Hojlund etc. are better when there's space behind.

Even though they're shit right now, will happily take a point and target the Spurs game as the win.

From Red Cafe:

“I can’t see us not getting pumped. Mainoo will get bullied in midfield and Casemiro hasn’t got the legs to partner him.

Bruno/Joelinton/Tonali will dominate in the middle”

“And upfront they have Isak and Gordon.

I have debated with several posters recently who think that we are at least as good. Unbelievable”

"Another group of thugs who will try to make use of any kind of setpiece opportunity."

Thread is a sensational read isn't it. Plenty of them seemingly going to get a shock when Ugarte isn't starting or on the bench either

The thread is a great read, they really hate their players, owners and club in general:

‘Think this is the game that turns the fans on the players. They’ve been very patient, and previous narrative has been the ownership and ETH. Players have nowhere to hide now. I suspect when that third Newcastle goal hits the net Old Trafford gets vitriol’

If this was at home, I’d expect a fairly easy win, even if the score line may only be 1-0.

These cunts have a knack of beating us at OT though, only 2 wins there in something like 40 years.

They were one of the best sides in the league while we were one of the worst for most of those years.

Because I worry about my own delusions as a fan when it comes to assessing us, I love reading the opinions off opposition boards. Genuinely.

On other boards you can really get a kind of "wisdom of the crowd". Sure, Individual opinions may be wildly pessimistic/optimistic, but a general overall vibe can be gleaned.

Besides Liverpool and Arsenal, there aren't a set of fans that go up against us with any confidence. And even arsenal/liverpool are like "could be tricky".

Says that a lot more is going right than wrong. Imagine anyone not in league 2 or below being scared of a steve bruce side

Couldn't realy pick a better time to play them so I'd agree with the bookies we're actually favourites here, as mad as that seems, though obviously favourites don't always win.

There is fuck all left of their fanbase to make any sort of protest.

Even 25 years ago, it was a stretch to get any sort of momentum going for anything. Too many people there now are just day trippers. People who either have never been to Old Trafford before, or who go infrequently. Even the green and yellow shirts would get a hard sell. People going want to go into the club shop, get the official shirt, the key rings, the Man Utd travel pillow for their flight home. They don’t want to buy a protest shirt off a protest group.

A few years after their fans did a protest with the green and yellow shirts, the club went and brought it out as a 3rd shirt, and it sold by the truckload, defeating the fucking point in it.

It’s the same with singing and chanting. The people going don’t know the songs and chants, it’s why it’s quiet unless they score a goal and you get a roar by the sheer amount of people cheering a goal. That’s all you get, what’s left there is customers, not fans.

I’m not saying that there isn’t any hardcore fans who go, but they are vastly outnumbered by the Man Utd customers, and if Jim the Rat is able to deliver this new stadium, it will only get worse.

In fact Jim himself is just indicative of the average Old Trafford match goer now. Someone who calls themselves a fan, but has a season ticket for Chelsea, and has signed up a lucrative sponsorship deal with Spurs, whilst having his fingers in the pie with 2 other clubs.
