Tottenham Hotspur vs. Newcastle United: 04/01/25 @ 12:30 (TNT Sports)

Looking at this objectively, we're playing a side with two wins in nine. They're playing a third choice keeper, have one fit CB, no fit RB, their best CM is suspended and their main playmaker has been ill all week.

Meanwhile we've won five in a row, conceding one. The odds are vindicated.

Subjectively, I'm a Newcastle United fan and I'm hyper aware of how good they are going forward. I've seen us not capitalise on these situations many times over the years, I'm taking nothing for granted.

I feel uncharacteristically optimistic about today’s game. I can’t see how an illness-affected back line can deal with the energy and quality of our midfield and forward line. Also our midfield has been really good at protecting the back four, so as long as we win that midfield battle I think we will have too much for them.

Austin; Porro, Dragusin, Gray, Spence; Bissouma, Sarr; Kulusevski, Johnson, Son; Solanke.

Is what I expect. More than decent enough on paper. Just hope a few of them still have dicky tummy’s.

Not sure of the result but have a feeling Osula will score if given 15+mins. My only real/minor questioning of EH has been how long he’s been keeping Isak on the pitch these last few games.

Just now, Elliottman said:

Gordon should be licking his lips against these lot.

In this weather? Asking for trouble. Hope he’s packed his lip balm.

Who do you think will be under more pressure if they lose?

Postecoglou for their recent results, or Howe with no wins in 2025?

Oddly it’s a bigger game for Newcastle than Spurs, they’ve got their illness and injuries to hide behind, losing can be explained away.

Whereas to get 4th or 5th means winning games like this and making sure Man Utd wasn’t a one off
