seriously, with a view to winning and balance: Pope / Woodgate Schar Hall Trippier / Robert Solano Batty Bruno / Beardsley / Shearer

bench: Given, Albert, Venison, Gordon, Tonali, Isak, Lee

coach: Eddie

for all Ginola was a far better footballer than Robert in pariticular but others in there too, Asprilla was more skillful than any of them and Keegan's football and achievements with us will never be matched.

Venison because he was great for us in three different positions in three different seasons and great captain material

Trippier Schar Colo Jose

Lee Speed Bruno

Beardsley Shearer Isak

Bench: Hall Gordon Tonali Botman Robert Solano Dubs Tiote

Coach: Howe

Hard to think back to past players due to the current team being so good and likeable. I could have just named todays team and stuck Rob Lee and Shearer, with Pedro and Gordon rotating. Have to put Gary Speed in as he would be a midfield machine in the modern game. I think I rate Hall and Botman higher than Colo and Jose as players but they carried us through some dark times. Would love to see prime Beardsley in an Eddie Howe team.

Memecastle United - All about the vibes here

Hislop

Beye Bramble Albert Edgar

Hatem Batty Nolan Ginola

Shola Cisse Asprilla

Bench: Ba Perez Williamson Barton Dummet Harper Ketsbia

Coach: Pardew

Plenty of others I could include for both teams. I'm sure everytime you ask this questions you'd get a different response.

Shearer Isak

Second XI

Pope

I think if Ben Arfa were in my second XI, I'd have to have gone Ben Arfa, Ba and Cisse up top - just because of how they played together.

Any 11 has to include Woodgate, Beardsley and Ginola. All 3 were a class apart.

As a team I’ll go: Pope, Tripps, Botman, Woodgate, Hall, Ben Arfa, Batty, Lee, Ginola, Beardsley, Shearer.

Botman and Woodgate would be a fantastic pairing, Hall is already worth a place. You need a player like Batty and Lee’s running and ability to score was top notch. I’m a bit torn on how Ben Arfa would fit in and Nobby could easily be swapped in as a team player and top talent.

Beardsley was simply next level and you could put him with Shearer, Ferdinand or Cole and guarantee goals. Not so sure how he’d work with Isak, I feel Isak works better up top alone and links other players in.

One thing for sure, there’s some great players to choose from.

I was really conscious of so many in the team from our current squad, but its hardly surprising given that this era is the only one in the last 20 years that we've been investing in proper quality players.

I think in that time we've been quite weak down the left which is why I just stuck Hall in there. Enrique was in my mind but I just can't have him after he said "us" referring to Liverpool when he was doing punditry for Sky during a Newcastle vs Liverpool game. He's just totally disassociated himself from us so he can get fucked. I can't remember a left-back who has chipped in with so many assists like Hall so I just stuck him in there.

I do like the challenge of trying to pick an eleven that would fit together, rather than just my favourite players. So difficult choices.

Given - No challengers.

Trippier - Though I don't think we've had a lot of good RBs. Hopefully Tino will continue to develop.

Woodgate - Our best defender of the last 60 years.

Schar - Just makes it ahead of Botman. His technique on the ball gives the team an extra dimension.

Hall - As with LB, not that many contenders. But I think he has really stepped up a gear over the last 2 months. His performances have been a major factor in our turnaround in results.

Lee - A great all-rounder. He would really flourish in a three-man midfield.

Tonali - A month ago, I would never have put him in. But he's now working very well with Bruno and within Eddie's system. It's a question of combinations.

Bruno - Automatic choice. Classy player with virtually no weaknesses. Can stick his foot in too.

The really tough bit comes now, because I really think I have to pick Isak or Shearer, and Isak gets it. I don't think they'd work as a twosome. Shearer also lost a bit of pace after he joined, though he was still a great player. The other thing is that I think a front three of Isak, Bellamy and Beardsley would wreck total havoc. If I were a defender I would dread facing them. So -

Beardsley - With him, it was like we had 12 men. Full of energy, imagination and skill.

Isak - A central striker of the like that I've never seen before. His technical skill and creativity is different class. I get the feeling now that as long as he's on the pitch, we've got a chance. He can get us something from nothing.

Bellamy - Nearly won us the league before he did his hamstring. Great energy, pace and fire.

Manager - Howe. The best and most complete manager we've had in my 60 years supporting this club. I'm distinctly partial to the ground he treads on.
