The more I look at it, the more Gordon being suspended might be a blessing.

 

He's been off form IMO and covering his fullback isn't his strength, especially when playing against Salah.

 

Id back Tino and Joelinton to snuff out Salah. I'm not saying that will be enough to win the game but it's a start.

 

Murphy + Isak as attacking outlets only need to get us 1 goal.

at Wembley under - clears throat - Tim Sherwood in the FAC semi final. 
 

We were absolutely wretched that season, well into building the team towards a sub 20 points comedy relegation the next year.

That Liverpool team were levels below this current one now though, this one is pretty much unbeatable at the moment .

We can't match for quality so we really need to go back to frustrating fuck out of them and snatching a goal or two, which with isak is always possible/likely.

Always felt we needed every single one of our best 11 fully fit and playing well to have a chance here. 

We're looking at No Gordon, No Hall, possibly no Botman, a half fit Isak, half fit Joelinton and majority of our lads massively out of form. 

 

Will take some kind of miracle to pull this off and a defensive masterclass.

They've essentially properly rested players for 2 games this season, lost both. Spurs and Forest 1-0 defeats their others which shows they can lose but how hard it's going to be.

 

Coming up against a side that's won UCL with a lot of this group, so occasion will be nothing to them (especially since they won it last season with many kids  ). We're going to need to use up our luck for rest of season to get the win, which I would take. League Cup and a limp 7th place finish I would take all day. Get this monkey off our back, blow up the squad and go fresh next season with the core hungry to win more.

The issue with Gordon being banned is he will put a shift in supporting Hall by getting back and doubling up on Salah. 
 

That is why I think we will go with Joelinton wide left with Willock in the middle.
