[League Cup Final] Newcastle United Vs. Liverpool - 16/03/25 @ 16:30 (Live on ITV & Sky)

Might seem crazy, but I'm half hoping Jota (very good player), plays as usual instead of Nunez. Nunez has been very disappointing in his time over here (I can see him leaving very soon), but he does cause us problems with his pace and his finishes have been top notch against us also when he's scored. Mind Jota doesn't have a bad record against us either to be fair.

Omens are good. I went to an Iranian restaurant in London and had something called Zeytoon Parvardeh and it was one of the nicest things I’ve ever had.

ZeyTOON.

Zaytoon just means olive in Arabic . I’ll tell you now though;  Olive and breath NUFC me, lad! Let’s bring this home.

Jota is deadly in the air so I’d rather see Nunez line up. Plus with Nunez, there’s always the potential he could lose his head and get sent off.

Meant to be driving down at lunchtime today. Twisted my ankle at 5 a side last night. Can barely walk. FFS.

I did my wrist on Thursday evening while cycling, was painful yesterday but fine now in a strap.

Woke up this morning and jumped out of bed thinking it was Sunday. Never have I been more disappointed that it’s actually a Saturday.

Work up early this morning and I jumped out of bed
I didn't have to wear my work clothes
I put on this shirt instead
It's a black and white jersey, it's a thing I couldn't hide
'Cos it's almost a religion and I wear it with some pride

We get a weekly update at work. This week they decided to include the thoughts of a Newcastle fan and a Liverpool fan. Compare and contrast the humility of one fan and the absolute self-entitlement of the other.

Quote

Newcastle:

It’s the hope that kills you.

It always has been, I’ve followed Newcastle United home and away for 30+ years now, 29th January 1994 as a 10th birthday present and I was hooked. FA Cup against lower league Luton Town and we drew 1-1 only to be knocked out in the replay. I’ve been set up for disappointment from day one. Thanks Dad.

I’ve met some great people over the years who I would consider good friends, which for me is what it’s all about, “… the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city…” as a great man once said. This weekend we will be travelling down together full of hope (again) that we can beat the current best team in Europe, at Wembley.

It will take a monumental effort, but this is why we love it, because anything can happen.

Seymour, Harvey, Milburn, Moncur, Keegan, Robson, Shearer, I wonder if anyone is ready to etch their name into Geordie folklore like those before them. One thing’s for sure, win or lose, we’ll support your ever more.

Howay the lads!

Liverpool:

As a lifelong Liverpool fan, I am looking forward to the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United. As the most dominant team in the country, and currently top of the league 15 points clear, we are 100% going to be walking away with the cup and here are the reasons why -

We are 26 points ahead of Newcastle in the league

It’s been over 10 years since Newcastle beat us

We have the goal machine that is Mohammad Salah with 30 goals and 22 assists in all competitions

Newcastle haven’t won a trophy since 1951

So enjoy your trip to Wembley, Geordies. I’m sure it’s going to be a gloomy trip back up the M1 to Newcastle. Up the Reds!!!!!
