Seen us score one goal at Wembley in my lifetime. One. Rob ‘new knee’ Lee’s header (from a peach of a cross from Shearer) in FA Cup semi. Hoping this changes in March.

Remains my favourite goal, celebrations in the stands were incredible!

Mackems

Manure

Villa

Scousers

Spuds

All wankers to a man.

I don't mind Villa actually, I quite like them. I'm a fan of any team that has a chance to upset the Sly 6.

I have no love for Liverpool fans, ever since a group of their lot followed and tried to attack me and some friends outside of Anfield. There's always bother wherever go.

That said, while I've softened on them in recent years, I'm not sure I can hack losing to them in a cup final. Given they're a better side than us and they get every scrap of luck going, there's a very good chance they will too.

We definitely have a chance, but my head says it's a slim one.

Due to the above reasons, it'll be a rough watch.

I’ve never understood the N-O hatred of Liverpool.  Scousers are the most alike people I’ve met to Geordies, always liked visiting their city (football results have tended to be shite).  All successful clubs will have tiresome glory-seeking arrogant wankers attached to them - the types that think that the club they picked winning things actually says something about them as a person.  When Liverpool win things I tend to shrug, in a way that I don’t with the London clubs.

The hate is unlikely to be about Scousers, many of whom are Evertonians.

The hate is about the press fawning over them (lots of non Scouser bandwagon jumper fans) and the vast cohort of ex Liverpool pundits constantly rimming them.

Lots of diving against us (Salah, Fabinho, Jota just off the top of my head) and Klopp being as ungracious as any manager out there do not help.

Them winning the final with a dive is not unlikely. It would be spun as our fault.

The strong rumours are the cup scheme will be categorised

So first dibs will go to those that have been to all 4 home plus one away

Then all 4 home

Then 3 home and 1 transferred ticket

Then 2 and 2

As I have said it’s only rumour but don’t be surprised…

Ok, so this morning I mainly find myself shitting bricks about the prospect of one/more of key players getting injured before the final.
5 games, 37 days to go. Don’t think this being decent and in with a chance of winning shit sits well with me.

I just want—need—us to turn-up, with our full armoury, and perform.

Nah. If it was Spurs, I would be.

But whilst I think we can win and won’t be going into it negative and downtrodden. We are underdogs here and everyone expects us to lose.

I know we can’t keep getting there and falling at the final hurdle. But it somehow  feels like the pressure is off.

I guess we would be slight favourites against Spurs.

I lived in Liverpool breifly, great city with a unique character much like our own.

Generally speaking scouser are very affable and welcoming, but it did feel like there was a larger than normal aggro element and its observable in both the Liverpool and Everton fan bases.

I judge clubs by the fans that I meet in person, not online  The only ones I genuinely dislike are Liverpool, Everton, Man Utd and Sunderland.

Agree with this

Every time I've came across a scouser I've thought they're absolute bellends. Either a gobshite or huge chip on their shoulder

Absolutely nice for me who has applied for a ticket to every home cup match in the ballot and lost out on them all. I obviously couldn’t get a ticket for the away match as I’m only a Mags+ member.

I don’t get the hate for any other club to be honest, most clubs have their fair share of unbearable fans and times that by 10 if their club is successful. The media coverage is just attaching itself to the big fanbase/success of the club.

It’s very Newcastle to come up against the hardest side we could possibly face, buts the nature of cup finals. A final is anyone’s game.

This feels a bit harsh no?

56/69 points for them. Best attack, best defence. Topped the CL league stage.

They seem extremely well balanced to me and have arguably the best player in the world right now tearing teams to pieces.

All true, but a description of the symptoms I reckon. They're very good obviously, but I'm not watching them and thinking they'd give any of the best teams of the last 10 to 15 years a game, including their own under Klopp. You can feel that when you watch them I think.

Man City falling off and everyone being very inconsistent this season has opened the door for them and tbf they've taken the opportunity, but no one's challenging them. They're 9 points ahead with a game in hand on 2nd, at this point last season there was only a 7 point gap between 1st and 5th.

They're going to win the league, are likely to win the League Cup, and have a shot in the Champions League, but they're probably the most unremarkable successful team I've seen in a long while.

Similar boat, Stifler. Missed out on all ballots I’ve applied for. I’ve managed to get to two LC games this season but via football tickets.net. Went to all home games 2023 and still had to (felt I had to) buy an overpriced corporate ticket to see us (not) win something at Wembley.
It is what it is, demand will always outstrip supply; at least when we’re doing well. But it is demoralising and frustrating.

I can understand for season ticket holders, but for members who have to gain entry to the cup games via a lottery, there should be a fairer way than to say those who were lucky enough before, will continue their luck.

Agreed, I honestly don’t think it will be based on cup attendance for members as that’s patently unfair.

If they do any kind of criteria for members, it can only be based on ballot applications rather than attendance.

This is how it should be for members.

So what are thoughts about putting a safety bet on Liverpool to win?

Was having this debate with a friend and he was keen to have a financial reward attached to the potential misery of losing (betting on Liverpool), but he said he wouldn’t care about losing the money if we won.

Anyone else doing that, or is that seen as deep betrayal?

Did this with Man U in the FA Cup final last year (felt disgusting placing the bet) but the £200 return took the edge off us not getting Europe.

Liverpool are 2/5 to win it though. Would imagine man u weren't anywhere near them odds.

So you'd need to invest a canny bit for any kind of return this time round
