We were basically up against a flying top half championship team there away from home in a feral atmosphere with a fully rotated team.

We stepped up and matched them and then managed the game tremendously, in large part to do with the introduction of Schar and in particularly Tonali.

League One. no?

More surely? We were consistently out in the third round under Ashley.

Had two or three QFs in the LC to embelish the obligated apperance in the FA Cup

They’re a Championship side really, they’ve spent more than the majority of Championship teams on their squad. I imagine they will be in or around the play off positions next season.

Looks like they will be for sure.

I understand lower league teams want to put themselves about. But there’s a line.

Proper hatchet men and snide stuff galore. Just chippy stuff, little niggly fouls, shirt pulls etc.

But when the game opened up. They were doing their best to injure all our players.

Got out mostly intact. Hopefully Burn is ok and just a precaution.

Unless it was just him being subbed as a load thing. The same as Bruno. He looked to be wincing and hobbling a bit.

Aye Eddie’s just confirmed it was his groin.

Howe must've won the same amount of cup games as we did during the entire Ashley tenure by now?

Ashley era - 9 FA Cup wins and 22 League Cup wins in 14 and 15 seasons respectively

Howe era - 4 FA Cup wins and 14 League Cup wins in 4 and 3 seasons respectively

We would have lost that easy a few year ago. Well done the players for dealing with that high octane shite and thuggery, especially those who've hardly kicked a ball

Made me laugh them wanting Miley off when they committed about 3 red card offences

First half: Quality and entertaining half of football.

Second Half: A war crime.

Proper FA Cup game, through to the next round, all you can ask for.

Good to see Wilson, Krafth and Targett come through okay.

Will be nice to have some solid, experienced players on the bench going forward.

Was just relieved when the final whistle went, was all sorts of emotions through that

First half Birmingham played well combined with getting away with some kicking, second half they seemed to only focus on kicking us all over

If they'd lumped it from the FK and equalised he's on for extra time saving the extra sub window for if it's needed. They lump it and don't score, he walks off after 30secs.

Thats fair enough but if got injured we'd be fucked.  I'd rather go out than take the risk with him when they were kicking the shit out of everyone.

Agree, think Tripps is now in ahead of him. Mostly his decision making and delivery going forward that’s underwhelming at the moment.

He's a good player but I think he will be one that blooms a little later.

Was a proper old school cup tie, but Birmingham were a bit OTT at times, and glad we didn't rise to it too much, and risk any reds for reactions/retaliation.

Anyway, onwards, and here's hoping for a(nother) decent draw on Monday.
