Manchester City 4-0 Newcastle United - 15/02/2025

Not seen Tonali anywhere near enough. Seems like we decided we’d completely back off and see what they could do against us. Players walking around, not putting challenges in. Just bizarre.

Kieran Trippier has been finished as a footballer all season. Why the fuck is he starting against City?

Because he’s one of the old favourites so as soon as he gets a decent half in then he’ll walk straight into the team, where some others really have to work much harder to earn or keep their place.

Madness IMO. Good game against Arsenal second leg, mind. But Tino was better in the first leg vs Arsenal and is generally much better.

We obviously wasn't seeing much of the ball today so selecting Trips today is odd.

My worry is that we are doing what we done the last time we got to a final, struggle to get up for the bread and butter games and in turn have no confidence for the final.

Being distracted by the final would be fine if we turned up up the fucking thing, obviously hopefully it'll be different this time but 2 years ago form went off a cliff once we reached the final, which you'd forgive if we then won it, but we didn't turn up to that either!

If we win the cup I'd happily lose every game 5 nil until then tbh, but history tells us if we're playing like this now, it usually means we'll play like this jn the final too

A real Trippier master class here. My God man.

Tino's defending most of the season has really been taken for granted.

Always way too much emphasis on what Trippier does going forward. His defending is pitiful.

Performances like this are what worries me about the final. Players like Gordon and Willock have far too many off days this season. Play like this, like Fulham, West Ham, Bournemouth and Brighton at home and we'll be well beaten by Liverpool.
