Having said that, we battered them at their place so who knows. Tough one to call, but if we lose the top 4 race will be looking bleak. Their strengths and weaknesses are pretty much an open book, we need a repeat performance of the one we put in down there. We neutered them very effectively on the day. The Prophet
Both teams hitting a bit of a ropey patch will make it a tense affair. In terms of Champions League, it's probably must not lose for us.
ExiledGeordie
It’s just a massive game for confidence too. God forbid we were to lose this then head to Anfield. We usually respond well in these games though when we have to respond.

Their style isn't easy on the eye but they've been excellent. They deserve to be where they are. Would you say Bournemouth are similarly in a false position? The Prophet Posted Sunday at 11:30 Share Posted Sunday at 11:30 Promising that they've been abject in their last two away games. Granted, we'll have to improve if we're to get three points. With Liverpool away straight after, it does feel like a big game.
jack j Posted Sunday at 11:32 Share Posted Sunday at 11:32 I see they've lost to Bournemouth and Fulham in their last 3 games Definitely not results of a European team (read it on here)

They’ve won a lot of games where they’ve faced a lot more shots, lost the xG etc etc. Now you can say that’s partly down to their style of play, and I think the manager deserves a ton of credit for making them as effective as they have been. But it’s very difficult to maintain the level of success they have had, whilst playing like this. I wouldn’t say it’s impossible to do it across an entire season, to an extent we did it under Pardew, for example. But if they want to continually be up in the top 5, they’d have to evolve and play, at least a slightly, different style. Don’t think they’re in any way comparable to Bournemouth, who tend to ‘deserve’ to win the games they do, statistically speaking. Agree on many points here, but where we might differ is that they absolutely deserve to be where they are. Whether it's a case of stats and results diverging or just that their style is based on robust defending and taking chances (at each end of the pitch), their league position reflects how effective they've been. Certainly agree that their style won't be sustainable with consistent European ambitions.
HaydnNUFC Posted Sunday at 11:49 Share Posted Sunday at 11:49 (edited) Forest are where they are on merit and are a good side, they must be, but whenever I’ve watched them they’ve never looked good. They did win 7-0 recently tbf but games like Wolves away where they won 0-3 massively flattered them. And we took them apart in the second half at the City Ground back in November; no one since has managed to win there. We need to win for any sort of CL push imo. Lose it and we’ll need to collect 10 more points than them between now and the end of the season to finish above them. Can’t see that happening. If they’re still there at the end of the season, you can hardly say they don’t ’deserve’ it. But I don’t think any of us would say they are one of the best five teams in the league if we were asked. Ketsbaia Posted Sunday at 12:03 Share Posted Sunday at 12:03 The combo of dumb home defeats + what Wood did last season makes it a nervous build-up. I'm not confident in our lot tbh. But that City Ground performance was good so Howe needs to remember that + not play to their strengths again. Have to win. Can win. Think we scrape it. Lush Vlad Posted Sunday at 12:26 Share Posted Sunday at 12:26 I wonder if they’ll play their 3-4-1-2 again here? Done it the last two league games and Brighton didn’t have a clue what to do with it. Elanga’s pace would cause problems in that system. Along with Gibbs-White in that gap between our defence and midfield. I suppose we could also cause big issues for them wide and overload their wing backs and pull their CB’s wide. The underlapping Longstaff run could work well. Hoping Isak and Gordon are more involved. I really don’t think they offer much when the tactics seem to be for them to stay high. We’re not good enough in the build up to even get the ball to them.
