Liverpool vs. Newcastle United: 26/02/25 @ 20:15 (TNT Sports)

Recommended Posts

Great results for us last night in the main - at worst we'll only be 3 points off 4th after tonight's fixtures. 2pts off 5th.

Get a result here and we're in a great position, but we still are with a defeat. Hopefully means we csn play with a bit of freedom.

We know what will happen mind, it'll either be a resounding 3 nil loss, or we'll play amazing and lose by a single goal in controversial circumstances. No in between at this place.

We reckon Liverpool will rotate much after Sunday?

Thinking Bradley might come in for TAA and maybe Quansah in for Konate

Bradley is injured, I believe.  Gomez and all?  So you'd guess TAA will be at right back.  Quansah, if not.

I definitely was only saying it in half jest, to be honest.

I think there could be something there. Trying to focus on just Salah massively frees up their other incredibly dangerous players.

With the likes of Hall, Willock, Joelinton, and Gordon to choose from, we attack well down our left side, and Liverpool are relatively weak down their right. It's the one area where I think we have an advantage.

Having said that, and considering we're away from home, Eddie might choose to play more defensively tonight. He might want to keep his more attacking approach under wraps until Wembley.

They’ve not got a game at the weekend with being out the cup so they’re probably alright.

The full back areas are definitely where you can get at them. Robertson is on his last legs as a top player and Trent was an absolute shambles defensively against Doku on Sunday.

Unfortunately exploiting that is easier said than done.

I actually think it is the best way to play them tbf.

If we sit in versus these we'll get dicked.

I've not really seen any team successfully sit back against Liverpool, but there probably have been teams who have done it, just I don't really follow other games that carefully. Would be interesting to see how teams that get good results against them usually do it.

Forest won there and that's generally their strategy so assume that's how they played it? They're the only team to win at Anfield this season I think?

Liverpool are clearly the best team in the League, but for me they aren't close to peak City levels. Defensively you can get at them, don't think any of their midfielders are top top World Class either, attacking options are very strong though and Salah is best in the world right now.

Just hope we turn up and keep it close, very happy if we get a draw.

Aye, that Forest win was yuge. Effectively makes this a free hit.

I think any team finds it hard if you can sit back and park the bus, just don't think we are set up that way, and our players would struggle to implement it effectively. We always seem to get stuck in no man's land, neither defending well or attacking.

Might sound negative but I'd rather play our earlier round cup 11s tonight and go as strong as possible on Sunday against Brighton

We aren't winning either way tonight

Yeah the problem is we are going to  play our strongest team tonight and still probably get beat , we will then rotate for Sunday which is a big risk in a much more winnable game . It should be the other way round .

Not many players in the world are "top top World Class". Salah is definitely one of them.

Szoboszlai and Gravenberch are easily two of the best midfielders in the league though.
