[LCF] Newcastle United 2-1 Liverpool - NUFC LEAGUE CUP WINNERS

Recommended Posts

I can’t remember the match. I remember celebrating the goals, and I can vividly remember the post match celebrations but I’ve completely blanked the match out.

Call it a trauma response.

Speaking of Sam Fender, heard they’re trying to secure him for the 29th. Free concert on the moor. Just passing along what I’ve heard.

Not saying he'll let on, but I'll ask my mate :D

The overriding feeling I found in the ground was "what do we do now?". We knew the pre made plans before the game,  go to Covent Garden, enjoy the build up to the match.

Some people had hope and blind optimism but I'm not convinced many thought we'd actually do it which made the spontaneous celebrations so much more better. If we'd have been playing Spurs or another club not as good as Liverpool the celebrations may have been able to be a bit more pre-planned if we felt we had a chance of winning it before the game.

I don't know if other clubs sing it when they win the cup but the spontaneity of "Don't you know pump it up, Newcastle's won the cup" blaring around one half of Wembley will stay with me forever

I feel like the ebb and flow of the game is etched into my memory. Give me a minute and I could tell you how the game was going for us.

I have now watched it 4 times...

Thoroughly enjoying reading everyone's experiences of Sunday. It all got a bit too much for me at HT like, I bawled my eyes out on the concourse. Emotionless at FT, didn't know how to feel. Still don't. Not sure when it will sink in.

There’s never enough content. I’m like a tenured junkie for this stuff.

A few years ago I didn’t even follow the club on any social media.

They had my old Twitter account blocked for abuse.

Had my ears chewed off by a taxi driver in Yogjayakarta many a year a go wanting to talk to me about how much he loved Alan Shearer and English football. :aww:

Tino's voice breaking up in his interview properly got me there. He's normally such a chilled out lad but you can just hear the excitement brimming in him.

I wanted to join and help them make that next step and now we've made that next step. :yeah:

I thought I'd absolutely regret passing my ticket on to my Dad if we won, but I really didn't. He's 60 soon, I picked him up from Central on Monday and he just burst into tears. I've only ever seen him cry once before. We went for a few pints on Monday with some of our family and it just was perfect. He deserved that moment and I'm sure my time will come. This is just the start.

Was honestly the most magical weekend. Spent Friday night and Saturday in London and got a train back at 9ish Sunday morning, my lass picked up my stuff and met the mates I wasn't with in Newcastle.

Makes everything worthwhile. Packing in my ticket when Bruce got the job, I'd lost my brother who I used to go to every game with a few months before the takeover and it fucking kills me he missed this but I couldn't help but think he was there with me. Sounds proper cringe I know, but it was the first time I'd properly felt his presence since he passed. I'm sure we all have people we remembered on Sunday, they were all there with us.

Just an absolutely glorious weekend for every single person associated with this city and our football club. All the arguments about who deserves tickets for any game just out of the window. All those pitiful, depressing games at St James' where everything bar the match seemed more important. All those miles accrued following us on coaches stinking of piss. Every single penny and feeling I have ever experienced following this club is worth it.

So, so jealous of the next generation of our fans. They're gonna have it a lot better than we ever did.

I've felt like absolute death for days - far too old to be having 3 day benders now. Buzzing to take my kids to the event on the 29th now.

As for the rest of the season, yes we have a huge opportunity for Champions League football again but I'd be a liar if I said I gave much of a shit now. Job done as far as I'm concerned, and then some. I'll be somewhere in Europe following MY team in the next 12 months and that is what it's all about.

Absolute class this, Tino getting choked up about making that next step has set me away again 😭

Club should just ask everyone to send their footage to them and then release it all on blu-ray.

Would give me monthly wage for it

Mind the maddest part about the game for me was how well we managed the period after they scored. I'm sure I wasn't alone in being absolutely convinced them spawny bastards were gonna force an undeserved extra time, but we done the most un-Newcastle thing in the world and perfectly saw out the remaining 5 minutes or so

Literally. We looked like seasoned cup winners, like we'd been in many finals before already

Amazing performance around, always thought PSG at home would be my favourite / go back to and watch game but now this is by far
