He is no Isak replacement - I really don't want him as his behaviour is no better than Isak.  These players need to learn who pays their wages.  Am sick of this 'player power'.

Just play Osula as your striker of choice then.

Brentford on the phone with Liverpool, trying to find out what our "emphatic rejection" email looked like so they can copy/paste it back at us.

Fair enough really. They want 50, and so that is what it would take.

I don’t think they said they want 50, I think they said it would take at least 50 but won’t sell him unless they have a replacement.

safer bet than sesko for goals straight away.

hope we get both.

Not sure he is, like he probably is but not definitely.

There's loads of intra premier league moves that haven't worked out, the change in club (and in this case step up in expectations) can be disruptive.

Robbie Keane should have delivered for Liverpool but didn't, Who saw Sir Les having a stinker for Spurs after leaving us.

Hell even Nicky Butt should have been an ok signing for us.

It's safer, but not a guaranteed success

Hopefully we pivoted to Sesko for £70 mil - used money saved on Trafford deal

Always likely and looks like it this morning. The club will max out their budget as they always have under this ownership if the players we want are available.

I think we will get both and sell Isak. Come around to thinking that the latest Liverpool bid was just an agreed play between us and them to give us a better negitiation position towards our targets and to make us not look like pushovers.

Makes really no sense otherwise.

Can’t see us going back in for him unless we get the £150m for Isak. Both situations, we can wait till January and do the deals, or even next summer (which you’d probably go elsewhere).

No need for us to push on with him when we need to sign a CB / CM. It’s not a priority position if Isak comes back with tail between his legs.

I remain firmly in the camp who believe that players, agents, managers, owners or directors, in fact anyone involved in buying and selling football players for astronomical fees, care not one jot what is written about potential deals.

It's just something to write about, and people lap it up (yeah me included, sat for two hours in me garden with a series of cuppas refreshing every two mins)

I'm going out

There is no denying that negiotiations for a new striker would be alot harder if people new we had(or would have) plenty of money in the bank from the sale of Isak though.

I still think the chairman got involved yesterday, the way the Liverpool biased press reacted to the "no" was pretty emphatic

Again if he goes to Tottenham we only have ourselves to blame. Have had weeks to close this up and get it done.

Nah. If we buy Sesko and then Wissa before selling Isak, then all our leverage on getting a good few for Isak is gone as everyone knows we can’t accommodate those three together.

I know of a place were we could accommodate Isak. The reserves..

But yeah, a deal for Isak would already have to be in place unofficially before getting both Wissa and Sesko.

Well the option for Isak then would be, here’s a £160m bid from Saudi, you can move there or you are getting minimal minutes in a World Cup year. Next summer, we can get what Liverpool offered from Saudi again, and again it’s Isak you can move or it’s another season being third choice.

We have so many options to make life hard for Isak and still get £100m+. None of them have to involve selling to Liverpool. Isak wants to waste two full seasons and hope Liverpool don’t move on, he’s proper dumb.

Competing on multiple fronts, including the Champions League. Wissa off to the AFCON. All three will get plenty of game time, especially if Howe does the usual 12-month ease-in period for Sesko. We will only see the properly Howe-ed Sesko next season.

Just can't see why anyone seeking to influence either party would need to do so publically.

Agent wants to alert new club to availability. Network of agents and club officials, easy to do.

Agent seeks to get a player a move, speaks directly to club to outline players position.

Club seeks to sell a player, speaks to network of agents and club officials

Club seeks to buy a player, same surely.

Not aimed at anyone in particular obviously but this whole thing is a distraction to keep eyeballs on the circus during off season

I doubt the PL would let us sell Isak for that price to the Saudis.
