I was referring to one particular poster saying from Wissa’a stretch and ore-match warmup you can tell he’s lazy. A pre-match warm up does not need to be standard, it just needs to get the individual player ready to perform. If someone has seen Wissa get an injury at the start of a match as he was cold and underprepared then it may be a valid criticism. But as far as I can see it’s just lazy stereotypical b***ocks!

I’ve been on this site through the careers of all players on your list. I won’t debate them in detail. I’ll just say that they generally fall into the “mavericks” camp and so apparent laziness was regarded as a ‘feature’ on here, or the “mercenary c***” camp so their lack of work rate was a sign of their disloyalty or lack of ability and why they should be hated.

Not sure if the OG post was tongue-in-cheek, though I think it is best to try and be careful when there are some well-worn racist tropes around use of the term ‘lazy’ (and I also think it has to be allowed that not everyone will be aware that there is a trope re the stereotyping of black people as ‘lazy’ - I can take in reasonably good faith that anyone saying it really does mean it in the usual sense).  I’m not sure anyone on here is wilfully making that connection (I hope not anyway).

I also think Wissa comes across as a bit of mercenary tbh - which I can live with if he performs.  We’ve had plenty of players on the books where that applies - some have been great, some ok, some shite.  His attitude with Brentford was shit, frankly, and should’ve sounded a warning (what happened to the ‘no dickheads’ policy?).

I assume he's a classic striker. Sort of floats around the box, plays off the shoulder of the defender, bags you 20 goals. Which I'd be happy with, really. Thing is, that sort of player, if they're not scoring, looks like a waste of a shirt.

Thanks - I have edited the original post to remove ‘lazy’ from it as wasn’t aware of that trope and don’t want to cause offence.

Yes, a bit tongue in cheek as hoping to reverse jinx in to form like several others I have naively written off…

It’s a typical situation where if a player is performing then no one notices how many sprints he makes, but if he’s underperforming then every aspect is scrutinised. Particularly when transfer fee was so large (not his fault).

Tbf, even Gordon’s been called lazy this season.

Never thought Isak was lazy, just didn’t have the engine. Personally, I’d prefer our strikers to not lose all the explosiveness in their legs from pressing, reserve it for attempts on goal. However, that has not been EH’s route to success.

Haven’t seen enough of Wissa to have any opinion about him.

The amount of black footballers that get labelled ‘lazy’ on here is amazing! And only Jonjo Shelvey of other ethnicities attracts the same label. How can a stretch be performed lazily? Proper Nonsense!

This is a wild take, he looks lazy because he jogs about the pitch all game, I'm hoping it's because he's been injured and isn't fully fit, but he has looked slow and disinterested so I understand why people would think he was lazy. I do think reading anything into a warmup is also a bit bonkers mind. Need to be really careful about not falling into the trap of not being able to criticise anyone for anything because they are a minority. I honestly thought we'd got past this.

I find players that are perceived as underperforming often get called lazy or cowardly, when often it’s just lack of ability. In Wissas case I think the injury killed him, it took his pace and he has to adjust to not being able to do what he used to.

Do wonder if we should see if he can do anything on the right or left, which he's done previously with Brentford. I dunno, just think he's really poor as a CF in our system currently

If we get offered anything close to 30 million, just get rid

I think that’s close to the max other clubs would’ve offered last summer. We’re stuck with him.

IF we can somehow ship him to Saudi then let’s do it

He is wank - offers nothing and is a complete drain on the squad

Whoever sanctioned this deal at 55m needs to go aswell because it was complete negligence
