Froggy hasnt a doobie. Don’t get drawn into it. He’s not got the first idea what any of Man U players are paid let alone players for other clubs. if his ‘reputable source’ is a members only Manu forum or whatever click bait the rest of us see, it’s integrity is negligible. At best.

 

If we take Froggy’s account of things to be true they’ll be plenty of top Manu players on YTS contract levels of remuneration due to all the penalty clauses invoked due to their hierarchy fuckking up every which way. Something ONLY the agents of players signing for Manu neglected to mitigate against. Sure.

Let's not look at squad values from 2023, lets look at the quality of the squads in May 2025. How many of our players would you have said would get into your starting XI? I know the answer to this also, as I read the forum. 99% would take Amad over Murphy and only the clinically insane wouldn't take Fernandes over anyone. There were some who said they wouldn't take any of players over yours. That's how much better you considered yourselves to be.

 

So to summarise, 6 months ago you would claim to have a better manager than than us, and for your starting 11 to have at least 8-9 superior players than ours. You then lost Isak and signed Wissa, Thiaw, Woltemade, Elanga and Ramsey. You went for the same players as us and even offered them more money, so tell me how PSR is now the reason you can't compete with us this season?

 

Go so far back? It's relevant because we had to spend an absolute load just to become an adequate Premier League squad. We started from a position of Darlow, Manquillo, Lewis, Clark, Fernandez, Dummett, Hayden, Shelvey, Ritchie, Fraser, Gayle as half the squad. No-one was ever going to spend money on that so the money spent in the first couple of years was always going to be skewed. We spent just to tread water with the bigger clubs, who all spend way more than us even since then.

I think both points can be fair though 

 

Froggy is right they bought well in the summer and have swung a fairly big points total in terms of top 6 points "deficit" in one window.

 

It is also true the summer was a cluster fuck and we appear to bought poorly with a fairly sizeable pot of money.

 

Its also true this summer will likely haunt us in terms of how we can approach future windows alot more than others clubs like manu who have more revenue and more clauses in players sold and more saleable assets to offset poor player recruitment. 

 

How fair that is well life isn't fair and likely not to change in terms of a fiscal rule change coming to save us.

 

The biggest disappointment is we went 3 or 4 windows with no first team starter purchases but a new champions league campaign to capitalise on and right now it feels like we have blown it. 

 

Chelsea and manu have had poor league finishes in the last few years but have bounced back I dont think we are going to be as financially lucky. 

 

Again how fair that is,  is probably the biggest debate but one with no answer other than we hope the poor performers do better and we improve and learn from this as a club.

Never claimed to know more. I only ever state opinions based on what reputable sources say. 

 

When you mention clauses I can only assume you're talking about the CL clause. Rooney was literally talking about it on The Overlap. The closest journalists to the club have consistently confirmed it's existence.

Come on.  You seriously can't believe it is a 25% pay cut on top of a previous 25% pay cut if you failed to qualify 2 seasons in a row?  They will have a base salary with either a 25% bonus for qualifying or a salary which goes down 25% for not qualifying (in effect the same thing), but you're mental if you think that doesn't reset each season.  No agent in the world would agree to that.

Surprising that Ratcliffe was complaining that their club was on the brink of financial ruin given their player salary costs would have dropped by over 40% in the last two years.
