Fans get hung up way too much on the technical side of strikers. This Samu lad has very good movement, finishing, strength, aerial ability etc. He should be well suited to how we play esp with our wingers

Aye but if you're paying £60m+ for a Haaland type you'd want to be pretty sure he could grab 20 goals a season.

Not just about the number scored. And tbf expecting a 20 goal first season from any mere mortal is a bit of an ask. Having someone who creates problems, makes spaces for others, is generally a bit of a handful, can create many goal scoring opportunities for others.

Yeah that'd be fine for £30m-£40m.

So you would rather have Wissa for less time and less development. Crazy man. Personally id like both

Aye I'd be happy with both. If we were paying £60m+ though I'd just prefer Woltemade if we had the chance.

We need Wissa for next season, we cannot go in without a 9 guaranteed goals.

This guy for circa £70m+ is the sort of transfer we’d laugh at Man Utd and some others when they do it. Theres no value at that price for a proper raw player.

Half that is fine, but at £70m you want more seasons and in different environments potentially to justify it.

We’re not that desperate to plunge for it.

Samu has cost Porto around £25 million pounds altogether, and for the number of goals he's scored as a 21 year old, they are going to be looking to double their money and then some at the very least.

If we think the fee is too high then we'll have to look elsewhere. Think we're running out of options for a high potential younger striker though.

I've seen some links to Mika Biereth at Monaco, but the sources weren't great. He can apparently be had for around £40 million, as they got him for much less from Sturm Graz after Arsenal fumbled him as a prospect.

Wouldn't be surprised if Biereth is on our list too with that sort of fee, and with him being home grown and having come through at a Premier League club originally. French league is also a step up from the Portuguese one and is more physical and faster. He's probably the best finisher/goal scorer of these younger striker options. He wouldn't be a bad shout either.

Porto missed out on CL. Now I’ve got nee clue about Portuganese league finances, naturally, but they can’t be in the strongest of positions to negotiate?

They got £47m for Evanilson and a fair whack for Conceicao (split across an initial loan and now a transfer fee) but they also paid £7.5m for Jan Bednarek, swings and roundabouts

Porto are always willing sellers afaik, but they'll probably want to wait until everyone is convinced that the guy's mustard, and get a higher fee. It's plausible that they've put a daft price tag on him now as a bit of a guarantee.

The first touch can either make or break attacking moves though. He would be incredibly frustrating to play with, and I'm not sure that's something you can coach if he's not already got it at the professional level.

Yeah I said beyond what it already is at professional level, that was the caveat. He's not a 14 year old, he's playing at a very high level already.

Regardless, I've just watched one of his skills highlights and I've changed my mind somewhat. There's definitely something there, might well be worth a punt at around £50-60m. He's only 21 so got a high ceiling you would imagine, and he'd be a proper target man.

I'm always wary of trying to get players out of the Portuguese league mind, they seem to absolutely take the piss on fees.

Nunez, Fernández to name a few.

We have first hand experience,  Hugo Viana, best young.player on the planet.... apparently
