If we seriously overpay for this guy every other team will have our pants down whenever we try to sign someone.

At some point the risks of that, and JSL not justifying the price tag equate or overtake the risk of buying a player from abroad.

Is one good PL season enough to call someone a proven at PL level? Plenty of players have had a decent return in a single season that are nowhere near good enough for a club in the CL. Glen Murray, Mitrovic, Jay Rodriguez, Graziano Pelle, Ighalo, Deeney have all scored around 14 goals in a single season over the last 8 or 9 years. You'd have been mental to drop a significant sum on any of those.

In the data driven transfer market we now live in the club have clearly judged that JSL is good enough for us by more metrics that just his goal output. The majority of the strikers you named were quite limited when you look at their overall game and is why no top teams ever picked them up.

Its all coming up rejected by Jackson on deadline day.

Its all coming up midtable finish and losing more players next summer due to the incompetence of this transfer window.

Don't really understand that tbh. Surely when we've been in negotiations with Wolves they would have given a clear indication whether they were open to a fee being agreed or not.

I don’t think Brentford ever gave us an indication they would sell Wissa either. I think we rely on what agents are telling us and assume clubs are bluffing.

I dont think thats clear at all. If they were that convinced, we'd have made a move before the end of August.

I dont think we'll get Strand Larsen for the same reason we're not going to let Isak go, theres no chance of a replacement. It might well mean relegation for Wolves.

Left it far, far too late.

Sounds about right. We are suffering big time by not having an experienced DOF in place who would read the room better.
