Lots of games go in transfer deals and briefing press for various reasons.

They may not want to sell but why entertain discussions then?

Could be to placate their fans in the run up to a sale, “we didn’t want to sell but the player made his wishes known and despite acting professionally throughout we didn’t want to risk an unhappy player with a hard campaign ahead”.

Who really knows.

In saying that we should have done all of this a month ago instead of wasting time on Ekitike and Sesko.

Have Wolves done anything that's evidently invited talks, though? All I've seen is us desperately throw bids in after scrabbling further and further down our target list. Now after three bids they appear to have all but told us to fuck off.

There seems to be one constant in all of these negotiations and it's us throwing bid after bid in, wasting weeks on a player before being told to kick rocks in some form or other.

Feels like almost 4 years on from the takeover, we've somehow ended up with less transfer contacts to know who we actually have a shot at than we started with.

Can't blame Wolves for not selling like, it's a ridiculous time to buy/sell a big striker. Whatever has or hasn't happened for every move to collapse at the end of the day we don't have a striker and unless that's sorted, by hook or by crook, then it'll impact the entirety of the season. That's not acceptable in any way shape or form. This is why people were so frustrated and angry 4 or 5 weeks ago - not doing business on major areas of the squad early enough meant we'd be in this situation, it's not bad luck, it's poor from the transfer team. I'll give them credit for the players they have signed but it'll not count for much unless they get a striker in soon

All of a sudden Vardy's not looking so bad..

:suicide:

Sort of half being serious here but if the club completely fail to sign a striker I wonder if he becomes a realistic option…

Like I said yesterday. More fool them. 60m was wild money for this kid anyway.

They’re pretty much guaranteed relegation without him, selling doesn’t make sense regardless of how much we can realistically offer IMO.

I thought we said talks were positive 🙈

Our transfer team either can't read the room and/or are masters of self delusion

Talks with agent probably were positive.

Anyone know where we go from here? I still think it’ll be all on Wissa. I wouldn’t mind bidding £60m for Ramos or Watkins. Gonna be very difficult getting any top striker now. 4 days to save the season

Would love to go big on Emegha but do fear it would be another to add to the "REJECTED NUFC" list.

It looks we're fucked. I'm trying to keep the faith but my word, it's difficult.

We won’t sign anyone imo.

No club will sell this late in the window now unless the player is unsettled or available for transfer, ie Wissa and Jackson.

I don't think Ramos or Watkins are realistic (and in Ramos' case, I don't rate him at all).

I still think we'll continue down the Wissa and Strand Larsen route to be honest.

Come on  still 4 days. Apparently I’m the misery but I just can’t believe they’d leave Howe without a striker even if we have to do a loan. Believe
