If clubs stopped being so greedy and shared their revenue around more then I suspect boards etc would vote for less games. One interpretation would be that now they’ve actually seen him play He’ll be fine. In my experience when a group of fans get criticised for flip-flopping it ends up being three different groups who didn’t actually change their opinions at all - pessimists, optimists and the rest. When he plays badly the pessimists come out and some optimists dissent, when he plays well it’s reversed.

Not sure any of what you’ve said has actually happened so maybe the lunatic tag applies to yourself? There’s been a few comments saying he hasn’t played particularly well or did anything eye catching and show a specific quality that you’d expect with such a massive fee. Possibly even pointed out a couple of flaws for his physical size. Most seem to acknowledge that he didn’t see much of the ball and the German team is possibly no great shakes. To give balance to that though which maybe hasn’t been mentioned was they were only up against Slovakia and North Ireland. Don’t think I’ve read anyone saying he’s shit? Think they are questioning if he’s ready for our league and team and if so in what position because at the fee paid he won’t survive a 12 month bedding period from the crowd unless he’s scoring and playing well. All doubts lead to Howe’s ability work his magic. I think that’s all people are expressing. Doubts base on early impressions. Fairly normal behaviour in my opinion. I don’t think anyone who watched both performances can state he was great or fantastic or a sure starter on Saturday?
Dokko
Germany looked better when he went off. Much more dynamic with that beire (poor spelling I know) on than him. He needs energy around him.

Balls to Eddie and our scouting team who have pretty much a 100% hit rate, Steve in his PJ's (who's never kicked a ball in his life) munching on a bag of wotsits knows best. You know the score. I'm hoping with runners like Gordon and Elanga plus Wissa in front he's got all the legs he needs and he becomes a bit of an orchestra with his passing to get them behind defences. Kid Icarus
Some of the criticism of his two (!) performances is overly knee-jerk, harsh, and lacking nuance imo. That alone should be enough to chortle at, so I dunno why this extra step of saying they're also writing him off or judging him as a player is needed like. The College Dropout
Performance yesterday wasn't anything to get excited aboutl Barely involved. Wanted too many touches. You would want your new £70m to show some glimpses of a special talent. But Isak had lots of games of barely doing anything too. It's not Eddie Howe's Newcastle United though. Abacus
He did play the pass that led to Germany's first goal. A lot of the chatter has been that currently despite his size he's more of a no 10 than a traditional no 9. In which case, plus who knows how he will develop, I'm very excited to see what he can do alongside no 9 Wissa, and the different options that can bring. Rosenrot
His price is no different to Joelinton who took years to find his place and now he’s worth his weight in gold

Transfer fee inflation has been mad. In any event the poor lad hasn’t even played for us yet!

Where the club is at now Nick hasn’t got the grace period Joelinton had unfortunately. That’s the ultimate difference. That and we can’t afford to make a PSR mistake. This transfer has to work and has to work fairly quickly. Not for me personally or any expectations just is what it is.

It's the press who are already billing him as our Isak replacement which is ridiculous. I think instead most fans are seeing him and Wissa together as being our Isak replacement. It will probably take him multiple games and I won't be grumbling if it's not a quick start. There's pressure for the team to do well and try to get back to the CL, so he will need to play his part particularly during AFCON, but I don't think too much needs to rest just on his shoulders. Actually, I suspect we're not saying too much different here in reality.

But at the same time, it wasn't a massive shock because he was being played as a target man, and there's already been more educated commentators saying that's not his game. I can't judge him properly until we see him in our set up and how we plan to use him.

John P
From seeing those two games, he looks the sort of player who needs to play in a front two or as a number ten to get the best out of him. He played in a front two at Stuttgart right?
