I've held off commenting for weeks in the hope he would come good but, unfortunately, in the context of the premier league he's completely ineffective.  He's weak, can't hold the ball up, can't jump and win the ball in the air, can't shoot, can't dribble, can't pass and can't head the ball.  Yes, there is the odd flash of something occasionally, but any professional football should be able to show the odd flash of something occasionally.  There's just not enough to work with.  Any offer at all in the summer and I'd be selling him.

Well over 100 million spent and we still need a centre forward.

I feel for the fella. Such a bright start. I don’t even think it’s that teams have worked him out. It’s rare we see those deft touches like when he first joined. I still think if we played 2 up top he would do well. We get so many crosses in the box, but never nobody there. Only trouble for him with that would be his lack of pace.

There was a moment today when he had the ball in acres of space and still got caught in possession. To me this is lack of confidence, panicking. When he first joined, that would of been smoothly placed to someone.

Are his natural traits being coached out of him, or is it that the U.K veg is really that different from the E.U stuff?

If we get an offer close to what we paid,.I'd be accepting it.  I just don't see an effective PL striker in him.

I’d snap anyone’s hands off for that but I don’t see who the hell would offer that.

He plays with his head down too so doesn't see the game when the balls at his feet

Hmm, not sure about that. He played at least 3 key passes I can remember in the previous match.

this lad can finish, though.

i've seen him do it.

he looks absolutely shot of any confidence and is struggling more and more each week with the pressure.

he made a good pass to Gordon during the first half. His vision is his strength.

the incident he got caught in possession  was that he was waiting for teammates to show up but they didn’t

That's why he won't ever work under Howe's system. For Germany he has players around him constantly, running off him and he is also having the ball played into him consistently. His early games for Germany he looked exactly the player he does playing for us. Nagelsmann changed it up, but just can't see Howe doing that as it would mean a change in system.

I'm a big fan of his, but any time that I see him in the starting lineup without someone else playing up front and I'm not optimistic.

I think he'll get there though. Gordon’s gone from universal "he's not a striker" to being quite effective, so there's no reason Howe can't work his magic before 26/27.

I sincerely hope so as I rate him also. Just can't see Howe changing his system to make that work. Playing him in a front two with either him or someone else slightly deeper may well work, Howe has been pretty rigid in not playing that way in his tenure here (very occasionally with Isac and Wilson when we were chasing games), even though he did play with two at Bournemouth. He is certainly not a midfield player though that's for sure.

Pretty sure he has already told his agent to get him back to Germany in June.

Wouldn't be surprised to be honest

You would assume Bayern won’t be taking up the option to buy Jackson for 60m

I saw him in space at least a couple of times in the first half but he wasn't fed the ball. I don't think the others trust him, possibly with reason. Either way, it makes him a waste of a body on the field.

He only had 14 touches all game. That's fine for a striker if 6 touches are in the box, but not for a midfielder.

His career is finished here if this midfield thing persists.

We either need to play him up front with wingers prepared to get beyond him like Gordon and Barnes similar to how Bayern operate with Kane or change the formation so he’s got a direct number 10 that’s going to be making runs in behind off his flicks - A Delle Alli style, Morgan Rogers player. He isn’t a 10 for me as his mobility is too poor.

Im convinced there’s a top level player there but we either play a system to his strengths or move him on.

I just don't think we have the players too to play the system that will get the best out of him. We need wingers/10s to play with him and we have no players who fit that bill whilst Germany have Wirtz and Musiela

Yea, that exactly is not rocket science. And he needs training about the movement in the box. He needs to bust his gut to get in the box after dropping deep. Wolt just doesnt look like natural goal scorer, but even then he has got ability to get 15 goals a season.

We can't play him the way it's going at the moment. He's dreadful up top and yesterday was worse in midfield. Looking increasingly like we've made a rick here. It happens, move him on recoup as much as we can

I can’t recall him actually taking shots at goal with his feet at all this season. From what I remember most of his early goals were headers? I’d like to see some stats on this.

14 touches in nearly an hour ffs. 2 passes into final third. Even Pope had 1 and he can't pass for shit and is a keeper. Pickford had 14

This isn't working
