Ross Wilson (Sporting Director)

Lack of Europe is going to be tougher to attract players. Instead of competing with Villa for players we are likely in the next tier down of Everton now.

We definitely need a specialist like a Caicedo in midfield.

I wouldn't keep Ramsdale, don't think any of the defence trusts him.  I think he's a total liability.

Howe isn’t keen on a DM

Top GK, plus another as backup would be ideal but if we have to keep Pope another year or could haggle Ramsdale down to £12-15m as backup, I'd settle for that.

Left & right-back cover is essential. Someone like Hickey from Brentford who can play both would be the jackpot, like.

I'd be keeping Schar or Burn but not both. Go for a younger defender 25 or under who'd push Thiaw & Botman for their spot. Sell whoever fetches the biggest fee out of Schar & Burn.

Sell two of Woltemade/Wissa/Osula, not arsed which two. Get the number 9 signing right in the summer.

Sell Murphy, sign a new RW.

I think that'd be enough of a squad to compete for top 5 when we have either no Europe, or Europa/Conference League level opposition in Europe.

You the kind of guy that lists his beat up 2003 Toyota Corolla for 80% of MSRP without a hint of shame? What do you possibly think we could get for Schar, Burn or Murphy at this stage of their careers?

You could argue that Tonali is more defensive than a lot of the people who get mentioned. He certainly breaks up many opposition attacks even though he doesn't sit in the centre.

I've been so burned by our incompetence the last two summers that I can't bring myself to even pay close attention to what we do this window. I'll watch from a distance for my own sanity.

Regarding the new DOF and CEO, I'll show them some trust when they've actually earned it, and no earlier. I think if Eddie stays, he'll meddle in the transfers again and we'll pay the price - literally.

Obviously nothing has been done by this guy yet but what's everyone's feeling towards him based upon his track record?

Do we think he's the kind of appointment a club with our alleged (  ) ambitions should have made?

I'll reserve my judgement and what I think of him until after the summer, but not before.

Think it’s only fair we give him a chance, wasn’t exactly thrilled with the appointment given the clubs he’s worked for previously but he seems good at getting transfers done and I think that’ll help us hugely.

Obviously looking at what players signed isn’t a fair thing to judge him on, there’s a misconception that sporting directors are basically scouts.

That's a very simplistic view, obviously we're not in the same ball park but it didn't hurt Man Utd not having European football this season, nor languishing in the basement of the Premier League. We will still be able to offer decent wages as a big club, we have a bigger draw than you give us credit for.

Man utd are a massive club though that's the difference.

We will be okay as long as we don't shop in the store like last year.

We are probably are 7-9 in the pecking order, whereas Man U were always ahead of us and probably even Spurs and Villa last year despite them not having Europe.

You focus your rod on the pools where the fish are most likely to chomp on your bait.

Don't go big game fishing when you've only got a maggot.

A wise man told me that in the toilets of Dontino's Nite Spot around 30 years ago and it's always served me well in life.

Who was the last decent player we bought? Possibly Thiaw but who was the one before? It seems such a long time ago.

Definitely seemed that we had more ambitious targets in the few windows following the takeover

I did say we weren't in the same ball park as them, but I'm also saying it won't affect us as much as some fear, probably not at all.

Then you've proven my argument for me, there's a pecking order and Europe or no Europe it won't change much at all this summer.
