Vaj
The wingers have arrived!!! Well three of them at least and much needed, crucial to us being successful. Hopefully Elanga next!
BonesJones
Bruno the obvious standout. Botman with a lowkey brilliant game, some lovely passing! Absolutely loved some of Woltemades play, looks like he just does whatever is best for the situation rather than what might be best for him. I was looking forward to that game quite alot, had a real CL feel for some reason. Really enjoyed it!
TBG
A game that will live long in the memory, for Willock's miss and Elanga being brought on.

TenkoDaLuz
Anyway I'm not even mad or sad, I'm just used to this shit. I am happy for NUFC.
Kid Icarus
No more than we deserved. The moment that second one went in we went from the nervous, hanging on Newcastle side we've seen this season, into the one we've known well for the last 4 years, with its mojo back, and looking like we could have scored 5 or 6. Really hope that that's the turning point for us. You could see the flow of the football at the end really coming together there. The league is a different kettle of fish, but you can only take positives from that. Thought Benfica were utter garbage tbh, every worry I had in that match was down to our own sloppiness and that familiar nervousness creeping in. Ref was also predictably shite. Pope: 8 Trippier: 6 Thiaw: 7 Botman: 7 Burn: 7 Miley: 7 Bruno: 8.5 Ramsey: 6.5 Murphy: 7.5 Woltemade: 7.5 Gordon: 9 Joelinton: 6.5 Barnes:
54
Hell of a result and performance that. Gordon and Bruno where unreal and ran the show.
Andy
Great win and performance, not sure if they were just a bit shite as well though. Hopefully we can translate this to league form and start getting some consistency.
Mattoon
Great to see Barnes back on the score sheet with that rifle of a shot hes got, hope this is another one of his streaks hes hitting, Gordon finally reverting to the winger we saw in his 1st full season here, hope he can keep that up, midfield looked great despite the changes and Woltemade is just an obscene orchestrator of the game, I'm just gutted he didn't get on the score sheet tonight, he deserved it. Jonas
Very strong performance all round. Team play, individual play, lots chances. Don't know what to make of them but Chelsea laboured past them unimpressively.
Stottie
Brilliant performance. Great to see Gordon back to his best. I'm sure someone's said it above, but we've now scored more three Champions League games than in eight games in the league! I'm sure the goals will come. Yorkie
The two CBe were both absolutely stupendous again btw. Physical, savvy, good on the ball, won their duels, pressed high. Just brilliant. Lots of wonderful moments in that second half, like. But add Burn's torpedo to the ever-growing list of "fuck, I wish that had gone in"s. The league is going to be hard work this year but we're gonna have a lot of fun in the cups I think.

But we also look like when the time comes where we do click, we'll be absolutely brilliant. The third goal, is an example of the click I predicted. It will come, a good bolognese takes time to develop flavour. Edited October 21, 2025 by Mountain
