Newcastle United 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur (02/12/25) | post-match from pg. 46

We would've won if Miley could shoot. Two absolute golden chances and he passed it to the keeper.

Otherwise they were absolutely garbage and we looked good (including Miley) only allowing them 2 shots on target. But it's fine margins at this level, we've got to finish our chances.

11 points lost from winning positions is abject, like. I can’t remember what season it was. But we were the opposite under Howe not so long ago.

Two shots on target and two pathetic goals to concede. Gave up 3 ‘chances’ all night. All whilst wasting plenty of our own and being wasteful in wide areas and in and around the box.

This season is so stop start and I don’t know how we chucked that away. Feels like a defeat and Wissa can’t come in soon enough.

Decent CB’s know how to play Woltemade and we still seem clueless at times about how to get the best out of him. We just ping it into him and expect him to always make something happen or make it stick. No black and white shirt within 20-30 yards of him.

Disappointed to concede from the world's slowest bicycle kick.

We were dominant for most of that but I didn't think we really looked like scoring. Weird game, felt quite flat. Spurs had zero threat really so very annoying to concede 2.

Was just about to post this in the Howe thread. It's game over if Miley strikes that left-footed one cleanly. Huge moment.

Out of interest, from our squad who would you have fancied to score that with the weaker foot? I'm scratching my head I wouldn't fancy any of them too.

Well Miley himself caught a more difficult chance a lot sweeter just the other day. It was straight at the keeper but he got far more power on it than that effort tonight.

Genuinely feels like we've lost this. Trying to get my head back on earth - would I have taken 4 points from Everton and Spurs before a ball was kicked? Yes. It's just incredibly frustrating how achievable 6/6 was, and we've thrown it away at the death, yet again.

If we beat Burnley that’ll be 10 from 12. We would have all taken that.

Aye he obviously wanted to place it, didn't work out. I think it that's the extent of our big chance creation we are bound to have issues mind.

Doesn't count points dropped from regained positions (like Liverpool, Brighton) or non-PL matches like Marseille either.

It's a real problem for us that needs to be our priority to fix really.

And Chelsea have lost 10 points from a leading position.

Its frustrating when it happens, but it happens. 😄

It happens so often with this version of the team, it’s a problem.

Again, you bring up 1 example with a team with the same issue. Who also are 3rd, not 14th.

Yeah Miley was poor but you have to whisper it on here. 🤫🤔

One of his efforts took a deflection tonight.

Not sure which one that was but the left-footed effort which rolled to him and he passed to Vicario was extremely tame. Probably didn't even need to hit it first time but I haven't seen it again.

Not trying to dig him out, just using it as another example of the most fundamental issue in the team: we don't score enough. It's why we sit back, why we're nervous, and why we're dropping points from winning positions. We don't build up big enough leads.

If Wissa's return doesn't change that then we're destined for mid-table, probably bottom half tbh.

I’ll try to find it some highlights when I’m not still fucked off. But there was one that the nick pushed it back towards the keeper.
