Burnley 1-3 Newcastle United (30/12/2025) | post-match from pg. 54

Recommended Posts

We've, according to the boo boys, got a shit manager, two shit keepers, Burn is shit when fit, Murphy, Ramsey, Gordon, Barnes all shit, even Joelinton and Woltermade beginning to be questioned

but if we don't dominate a game and cruise to victory its an outrage

We made hard work of the second half but were still clearly the better team and had the better chances over the full 90, I'm confident the stats will reflect that too.

Obviously it's a very poor Burnley team and there's evidently still work to do, but take the 3 points and move on.

Not sure about being clearly the better team. Took our goals well is the best I’d say.

You left out Bruno and Tonali...

Scoreline flatters us, but will take it. Thought we were going to wilt during Burnley's 2nd half pressure, but we held on.

MoM - two for me. Lewis Hall and BIg Jo.

Second Big Joe, thought he was excellent.

We held on and killed an away game off like we're supposed to - is this real life [emoji38]

Jokes aside if I were playing against Newcastle I'd really target those drop-offs like from minute 45 to 70 this game. It's just a given it will happen every game and we have to sort that out.

Right but that's multiple different people all thinking separate parts of that.  I doubt any one person thinks all of those things, or even nearly all of them.

The criticism has been about turbo shit performances consistently over the season, most criticism I’ve seen has been warranted. One away win doesn’t gloss over that but here’s hoping we get on a run and strengthen the midfield and fullback positions in the January window.

Don't normally do these, but we all see games differently (why I love match threads):

Pope - 5.5 - Lucky with 2 shots he had no idea about. Probably match sharpness, but very lucky. Ramsdale would have been slated for the Burnley goal (unfairly). Hoping its match sharpness, as he's Eddie's preferred keeper. His last save was decent, though.
Hall - 7.5 - Brilliant.
Shar - 8 - My MotM. Saved Pope, and a lovely pass for the first.
Thiaw - 7 - Solid. Had to be.
Miley - 7.5 - Tidy and composed.
Gordon - 6 - Great assist, but missed a sitter and was ineffective. He did run and run, though. Still doing the silly dives.
Joelinton - 6.5 - Slow and piss-poor passing. Surprisingly weak on the ball. Got a great goal, though. Hard to score him.
Bruno - 7.5 - Slow and poor passing at times. But tried to drive the midfield, and got the 3rd when others were dead on their feet. Extra 0.5 for being an awesome NUFC captain.
Tonali - 5.5 - Slower and pissier-poorer passing. I swear he needs contacts. His depth perception is shot to shit.
Barnes - 6.5 - Criminal how many times he was ignored.
Wissa - 7 - Got a goal, looked sharp, but missed a sitter, too. Bypassed 2nd half.

Yep.

Any one of Wissa's header, Barnes' one-on-one and Gordon's shank and there's no way we cop that level of pressure from a home team with their tails very much not up.
