Looking pretty decent. Win would be massive tomorrow and secure us a top 24 finish I reckon. Be looking good for a top 8 finish tbf.

EDIT:

Looking at the table even a draw would likely secure us a top 24 finish mathematically.

Though not mathematically certain…Frankfurt, Copenhagen and Clubbe Bruges have vastly inferior GD…So i’m counting them as well…..ONLY 4 more and we’re at least in the play-offs

I'm fairly certain even before tonight we were already guaranteed top 24.

Correct

Edit - this was before tonight so our exact odds will be different but still be 100% play off qualification

Aim for a win tomorrow and shut up shop in Paris for a draw...maybe trying to knick a goal. Elanga up top.

I had visions then of Elanga recreating the Torres against Barcelona for Chelsea moment when they overcomitted in that semi final 2012?

Only in this vision Elanga raced clear and then miscontrolled the ball and fell over.:anguish:

Honestly wouldn't even back him to score an open goal at this moment, his confidence is shot and he barely resembles a footballer.

Having said all that. I think I'd start him tomorrow night. Only way he's gonna get better is playing games and it's not working having him come off the bench so may aswell chuck him in from the begining.

I much prefer this format mind.

I don’t mind it. I understand some of the complaints, but a lot of it feels like not liking change more than anything.

Not even enjoying the competition because of the format is strange to me.

That’s expected points. So it’s assuming we beat PSV.

Aye, last year a mate said to me he found it "unwatchable" and didn't understand it. Thought that was a bit deep, I was just picking the best game every night and watching the match, but he couldn't even do that. To each their own I guess!

Might be wrong, but it looks like by the end of tonight there'll only be 2-3 teams guaranteed a place in the last 16, and anyone down to around 30th will still have something to play for on the last game? I'm enjoying it.

It's two separate things. They do 1000 simulations and on average we got 12.9 points across those 1000. The percentages are how many times we qualified for the top 8 (13.3%) or got a playoff (86.7%) so out of 1000 sims we made at least a playoff place 1000 times

Plugged in a few sets of results for various teams into the UCL predictor on the app, positive and negative. Even after two losses the lowest we slipped to was 20th so pretty sure we’re in the play offs in reality.

Highest we got was 6th after two 1-0 wins.

Draw and a 3-0 loss got us either 16th or 17th depending on other results.

Think even if we went to PSG and won 1-0, there’s a chance we still miss out on top 8 on GD :D

Main thing for me is winning tonight and that with our GD (unless we proper blow up final game) should cement us the home 2nd leg in KO round and that’s all we can ask for really. Not winning away at Leverkusen or Marseille is what will cost top 8, but it was fine margins game and across two legs, they would be acceptable because we’d back ourselves to win by 2 at home.

There’s no-one who’s likely to finish in the bottom half I worry about over two legs. Napoli at worse because of the away game, but Conte is a mess in Europe.

It's not like that's an improvement on anything though. Going into the last round of fixtures in 2023/24 (the last time there was a traditional group stage), almost everyone had something to play for - even if it was just finishing 1st/2nd or grasping the Europa League spot. Looking at the standings there was only three teams out of 32 who already knew their fate before the last game.
