Heron
It actually felt 10× better doing it against the odds today. Away from home against a currently top 3 side, our skipper and a few other key players missing and generally just poor form away from home too and a very inconsistent season. That's before a ball was even kicked. Dominated possession first half without creating a massive amount. 3 or 4 players offside for their goal (including the goalscorer). A blatant Red card that was given a yellow, 2 other fairly soft but potentially valid penalty shouts denied and that's before the more trivial decisions. Villa questioning the Red they did receive is absolutely mental. Talk around Villa having players back?! We were 3 on 1 and past their keeper at that stage - it was a clear goalscoring opportunity and an almost knee high assault to boot. Second half and the most disgraceful refereeing decision I have ever seen - certainly in a Toon match. He literally should be suspended for a game for how poor that call was. Even if he couldn't see the linesman has to correct him. Absolutely shambolic. So not only did Digne get away without a red card he got away with a penalty. That feeling of injustice seemed to spur us on though and as multiple players told officials to "fuck off" (Dan Burn, Jacob Ramsey and Lewis Hall) - and they were just the televised ones - it was fantastic to see Sandro (who everyone has been sceptical about) say it one last time after levelling the game. The fact he ran to Howe and hugged him spoke volumes for me too. As did Trippiers interview when he protected Sandro and told the truth about the refereeing and Howe and what he means to the dressing room. Woltemade scoring was the icing on the cake. Two fairly difficult places to go and two wins, let's do it out in Azerbaijan as well. No doubt Man City will be a bridge too far but hopefully this is a turning point for our confidence and the discussions the players have had internally have been a force for change in their collective confidence. We're coming in to the final third of the season and now is the time to kick on if it is going to be at all this season. You cannot fault their collective effort though. As always...long live the king. Edited February 14 by Heron
BonesJones
Also fuck off with the idea the game changed because of the red card, like we weren't the team playing better.

Worth remembering Danny Murphy doesn’t think 4 attackers, no goalkeeper and one defender is a goal scoring opportunity There's an argument to be made, that far out, defenders getting back etc. For me the ref even got that wrong, it was serious foul play, no attempt to play the ball and took him out at knee height. Nucasol
So so proud of the lads tonight. Was in the Villa end and barely held it together when their keeper clattered Murphy. Second half watching the domination and the goals, seeing their fans melt down across the 45 minutes, spectacular. Hearing the Villa fans begrudgingly saying how great our supporters were also was validating. A special mention to the bloke who I thought was going to have a coronary when the fans started singing the empty seats song and the 5 year old Villa kid with the most developed swearing vocabulary ever. Back at Moor Street with a nice tribute to Sandro whilst waiting for the train. Never want to hear that Holte Enders in the sky dirge again like. Dokko
Extremely proud of the players tonight. Probably more than any other time since the final. This is it for me, that effort, determination, spirit and attitude. Give me that every game, then I cannot complain.

Stifler
I know that Villa are favourites, and they probably should win the Europa League, but it would be funny as fuck if they didn’t and ended the season trophy-less.

The Prophet
It'd be nice for at least one of the big sides to go out, but that's looking unlikely. Mansfield at home please.
Hovagod
Reading Villa Talk and it seems like their fans are relieved to be out of the FA Cup because the world’s oldest cup competition is a bit of a pain logistics wise. So everybody’s happy.
Moose
Great result, absolutely over the moon with that, especially being up against the most bewildering display of officiating you'll ever see. In years to come, this game will be cited as an example of why we can't afford to shitcan VAR. Well done lads, can't wait to see if we're getting City or Liverpool away next

So everybody’s happy. Definitely a bit of after-the-fsct rationalising but they've a point. They're in a handy position to take a really good crack at at Europa for their first trophy in ages, and get a CL place. All the cartel are still in the FA Cup. HawK
Wow, the BBC have gone both barrels here https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c70ke0zglk5o Either it was an inside job to push for VAR or the officials were paid off there's no in-between.
