Excellent news. My preferred outcome is an extended Gallowgate.

The kidology of the developers, though. Fannying around trying to keep their planning consent active for months, even amending the scheme as if it was all for real.

What a deal for whoever the hell acquired it. Walking away from what would have been a tough, unpopular and expensive development.

The thing is the club could potentially have extended even without the land. It was only ever the proposed development that was a possible barrier - because of the residential element facing out onto Strawberry Place. So it explains why they've been arsing around trying to keep the permission active - all part of bargaining position while negotiations have been ongoing for months to sell the land. Even when you expect that's exactly what's going on it's so brazen and makes a mockery of the system.

They'll have made a couple of million from it and rightly so. They gambled. Thankfully back where it belongs in the hands of the club.

Now get some massive screens out there and fanzone for the final.

I really didn't expect this either. Thought it was destined to either be developed or just an indefinite land banking exercise for the developers, with its value ever increasing the more the club became of interest globally. Really brilliant news.

Fanzone in that area next season would be a disaster for home games

You will hear the roar of the crowd at St James park before the big screen shows the (goal) ….time / 2 second delay

Only a few seconds but it spoils it !!

Best to use it for an extension of the gallowgate as soon as possible

Great news though - ??

I was just hoping for the final. They could sound barrier it from the road making it like a little cavern screens facing away from the ground.

I hadn't actually read the article before my post and it seems a medium term fanzone is what they want before looking at expansion. If so, thryll have done their homework and know exactly what to do with it.

Mehrdad has been working on it since day 1 essentially.

they've had architects in since day 1, scoping out expansion.

they'll know exactly how vital Strawberry Place is, and exactly what to do with it now it's ours again :D
