Fulham are making a killing with their new hotel and spa facilities linked to Craven Cottage, I would imagine the buildings will be repurposed into something similar.

It suggests exactly the opposite IMO. As per the Athletic article.

This purchase has not materially altered that.
Instead, Newcastle sources, briefed on the purchase but not authorised to discuss it publicly, insist this acquisition offers the club “optionality” in both directions. Newcastle view it as being of strategic benefit, whatever they ultimately decide to do.

Is right to light the only issue though? I thought the proximity brought other structural issues.

I have absolutely no idea to be honest.

Find it all very interesting though and can only be looked at as positive.

I think that’s the main issue, and I think we could just incorporate the building into any new stand. I.e if we redevelop the east stand and it goes over and above the terrace without actually touching it, is that ok? I assume so but wouldn’t know for definite.

This will help us in multiple ways.

1: It means the owners of this building won’t object to a new stadium on Leazes Park.

2: In time I think the student accommodation will be converted to high end apartments that the club sells as part of corporate packages.

3: I believe the original owners were Newcastle University, so this would indicate that they now have a working relationship with the university. Going back to point 1, this be useful as the university are the landlords on the other side of Leazes Park/Castle Leazes, and having them on board over objecting to our future plans would be useful.

Maybe also:

4. Building a new stadium and returning the land in front of Leazes Terrace to parkland would significantly increase its value, should they then decide to do 2.

Buy the Sandman Hotel, too?

Build a sky bridge from the roof of the Sandman to the roof of the Milburn.

They've obviously finally got round to reading my post from months or years ago that said buy Leazes Terrace and make it into matchday hospitality linked to the stadium, put the posh seats and boxes and telly cameras in the East Stand, and make the rest of the stadium a free for all bearpit for radgies for the cameras to gaze adoringly at :shifty:

Expanding the Milburn and Leazes from the previous iteration added 16k seats. So presumably matching the Gallowgate and East stand to those stands would add at least 16k more, except the East is smaller than the Milburn was pre-expansion, so it'd actually be more. So could this make a ~70K SJP feasible?

Potentially massive news but it boggles the mind how a stadium can be built over a listed building, even if you own it.

It can’t, despite us owning the building, English heritage/historic England will fight to preserve the buildings rights.

You don’t get to change a listed building and it’s rights because you own it.

The listing just covers the facade of the building.  You can make the entry of our away stand Georgian street similar to Luton's away stand entry...

It would certainly be unique, could imagine a big cheer going around as some bloke is nailing his wife at half time.
