Agreed on Trafford. Besides all that potential, he seems to be a good egg so no worries about him mixing with the squad. A goalkeeper who can pass will massively enhance our style of play.
-
How much of Burnley did we all watch last season? Feel like there are a lot of posters on here who watched their every game. It's the same situation with Pope's transfer for me, I was quite underwhelmed with that signing but it wasn't because I'd seen him play a lot. However, I quickly came round to the idea that he was a much better keeper than Dubravka. Hopefully it's the same again, but I've got no idea how good he is, I'm just assuming he's mint (or could become mint) because the club have chased him for so long.
-
There's bound to be a few sales like. Even if it's not a big one.
-
I don’t mind Trafford. As long as it’s not at the cost of a CM.
-
I'm sure Bloom is something to do with my Scottish team's (Dunfermline) new owner, James Bord*. Maybe they both work at Gamdom? *Bord not Bond lol.
-
I’m all in on Trafford as mentioned before. Future England number one who has done his apprenticeship across the lower leagues and a stint in Premier League, on top of winning the last U21 Euros. He’s as well positioned as a young goalkeeper you can get across Europe right now, for having the early experience and on the job learning before a big move. 150 pro games. Easy to forget that someone like Pope had nearly half as many pro appearances before getting his Burnley break out at 25.
-
I’m no PSR expert but could we not do it and then have another scenario where one season we buy buy no one again down the line and just sell?
-
See comments when we signed Tino and Hall.
-
Mikautadze absolutely stank the joint out at Ajax: €16m, five appearances, zero goals, and back to Metz on loan within six months. That said, it was the same season they spunked €12m on Chuba Akpom, had about six head coaches, and were bottom of the league at one point, so fuck knows how much you can read into it.
-
At this moment in time there isn't enough evidence to say he even is an upgrade on Pope, to be honest. Hopefully it proves to be a signing which pays off handsomely in the long-term that we needed to move to secure now.
-
Hard to get excited if it does happen. Would he really be a big upgrade on Pope? £30m+ also a fuckload of money against PSR when it'll do nowt to help ease the burden on our very limited squad.
-
Might be because of Burnley's own PSR position, rather than our own? The Athletic had them scraping by for this accounting period, so if they're sound they'll no doubt want the sale to happen in the next rolling period.
-
Yeah i don't really get this. It's only through the books officially as July but nothing to stop a deal getting agreed/announced pre July 1st.
-
Several transfers are linked to that. Not because the buying team can’t afford it, but the selling team want to book the profit in next year’s accounts.
-
I agree, people getting too carried away imo it’ll be either of them not both
-
We’re going to spend more than £100 million this summer imo.
-
Big Jake was always in the NUFC fans corner and comes across as a good guy. I would much prefer to see him presenting than some of the dross we get on Sky and TNT
-
he’ll be the first through the door I’ve no doubt about it
-
Think that's a safe assumption
-
If Sky get first pick, then you’d assume the only possible rival would be Man City v Spurs. But I suspect your mate will be proved correct.
-
similar to Guehi. Something like 400 pages and two goals for us last season. Feels like he’s been with us for years.
-
No chance imo, i dont think we sing Pedro and a RW tbh. It will be one or the other. (Without sales)
-
He wouldn't even feel like a new signing at this point.
-
I’m hopeful that we’ve moved on already. The talk so far seems to be speculation based on our interest last summer, rather than leaks of bids. I find it hard to believe we spent the whole season assessing what went wrong last summer and decided to walk back into this swamp.
