  2. Player swaps are very rare these days unless it's for a bit of PSR tomfoolery like the Anderson/Vlach deal. We can safely file the Barnes/Elanga swap as complete codswallop
  3. Calvert Lewin will be without a club after the 30th. If Howe does want him he’ll surely be coming in.

Nah, we don't. Last summer, there where rumours saying we offered him to Liverpool and that Arsenal were preparing a bid and how he idolisd Henry and supported Arsenal, remember? Then he piped up and said... "The only thing I can say is that a lot of information and rumours often come out. Much of what I read is not true. So that’s about all I can say about the whole thing." So, someone's saying we shouldn't believe that, and they're being clever, huh? If he signs a new contract (which i think he will), does an interview, and says he loves it here—again—should we think he's being clever? We really dont deserve nice things.

yeah that makes no sense - utter rubbish

  8. Sell on clauses are fine for smaller clubs selling to bigger clubs. Buy back clauses are awful

I'm certainly not slagging him off, quite the reverse he's being really clever about how he answers questions. I'm just saying what he's said can't be taken the way some are trying to take it. He's being asked "are you happy here?", and is replying "yes I'm happy here". That tells us nothing. What else could be possibly say? In what world does he say "no"?
  10. On a different topic… I think all clauses for sell on and buy back should be outlawed. File that alongside my views on no loan deals

I think you're overthinking this. He was asked about his future, and he answered. I could also argue he could have dodged the question and said something like, "I'm focused on the next game and the rest of the season, thats where my attention is at the moment." Even when asked about his future in national duty with Sweden he did say that. "There's not much to say, really. I've commented on my situation and my security in Newcastle several times. "it's been written how much love the city and the club, how well I feel there. I'm not thinking about the future" As a fan, I couldn't ask for more from a player. However just because he says he loves it here doesn't mean he won't get sold, but it does mean he won't push for a move (hand in a transfer request). I'm pretty sure Isak won't do that. Bruno said he loved it here and wanted to stay, but if Man City triggered his release clause, he'd have left last summer.

  13. EH ain’t the manager for you unfortunately. I think anyone he signs to start in the first team he’ll not be doing so to flip in 12 months. I appreciate Kelly could be used against this argument but I’d still argue he was never more than a squad player to cover two positions if desperate.

If somebody asked me to describe the most pointless job I could imagine. I would reply back with TeamTalk Journalist.

2 months left of the window so anything could happen. I’ve a feeling it will be Liverpool this summer or next for free. With their main competition being Chelsea as he’s £20+m cheaper for them to buy which makes him quite inexpensive despite being into his last year. Id be surprised if we get him. Unless it’s a great fee and other interest isn’t there but at our range you’d expect Spurs to be interested with Romero wanting to leave.
  16. Team talk Let's put some respect on this threads name.
  17. The XL player versions fit like a M in my experience. Probably better off with the fan version in that regard.

Well maybe, they might have won the cup anyway, who knows. And even then, they could sell him this summer. Still think they probably will TBH.

Why not? Are you generally in favour of corporations making money over individual employees? Personally I'd rather see a massive redistribution of wealth across the world, from corporations to the employees themselves. This is what Trent did, and what I'd do as a player too. I'm surprised all players don't do it. Why as a player should someone else get £100m for me, am I an object? How can a human being be bought? On the flip side, if Newcastle bought players who left for nothing I'd be a little disappointed because that negatively impacts my team's ability to then reinvest in transfers, but that's me as a football fan supporting an individual team and I can compartmentalise that against the human angle where I'm in favour of anyone, hell everyone, walking away at the end of their contract to maximise their pay. It's not like footballers are absolutely guaranteed to be set for life, see the Lee Clarke thread. And that's a man who has had 15+ years of employment AFTER retiring from football.
